Alcon Brakes

Alcon Brakes
Just had new OEM Alcon brake rotors and pads installed on the 2008 Portfolio. The center section on the new rotors are painted a "primer grey".
It looks like they should be painted a darker color. Looking at pictures on line, it is hard to tell if they should be grey or painted a darker color. Does anyone know what they should be?
Thanks

I bought Jaguar OEM rotors and pads.from Suburban Autoparts on-line.
The rotors were $3,129.29.
The local Jaguar dealer in NH wanted $4,800 just for the rotors and $1,000 labor.
My local European auto shop, 603 MotorWerks, installed them.for $500.00
All in $4165.12
The rotors were $3,129.29.
- Front Left C2P10565 $964.89
- Front Right C2P10564 $1,003.47
- Rear Left C2P10563 $590.51
- Rear Right C2P10562 $564.42
- Rear Pads $220.32
- Front Pads $310,90

Unfortunately, this Alcon rotor deal is no longer available. See my post #12.
Alcon Rotors for Cheap
Brembo ceramic pads for Alcon brakes are available on Ebay.
Brembo ceramic pads for Alcons
I haven't replaced them yet. I did a pad slap a few years ago and they're still OK.

Gee that seems a lot you all paid for discs and pads. I imported to Australia from the US front discs and pads landed to my house in rural NSW for $550Aus, less than $500 US. When I got the old rotors off I checked and they were well over minimum thickness despite the step. Will machine them and reuse down the track.

Steve,
Does your XKR have the OEM Jaguar Alcon Performance Brake Package?
How Do You Know If You Have Alcon Brakes?
There's a reason why they're expensive.

Hi Stuart
yes I definitely have the Alcon Package on my XKR, not only because they are Red either.
I did buy after market so I have not put Alcon discs back on, nor pads, but they fit and work fine. I am a degree qualified mechanical engineer with experience in motor sports, so I not likely to be easily missled .
Interestingly my car seems to be unique, maybe because the previous original owner was the MD of a dealer. It is not a portfolio but has the brakes and wheel package, and I am told a couple of other colour abnormalities.
I love it regardless and it always turns heads and has brought home a few trophies as well.
cheers.

My 2008 XKR convertible also came with the optional Alcon brakes. I was told it was a $6000 AUD option for the big brakes. I've high temp ceramic coated the calipers and the rims. Here's how dirty they get after about a 400km blast in the twisties.
I didn't know that the Alcon brakes are quite a sort after options until Cambo mention them to me. I originally thought that all XKR came with Alcon brakes kit!!

Here are my refurbed Alcons and upgraded from standard ATE. I had the “R” ground off and the callipers powder coated and proper decals applied. Stopping power is very good, and getting better with bedding in, I think I have done around 700 miles since they have had them fitted. Also use EBC Yellow stuff pads.

Have a full spare set (new pistons and seals - color to be agreed as still not repainted) - front + rear + park brake. If someone wants a set - can help. Incl. light-weight bells for floating rotors and mounting brackets. But just to manage expectations - it's not a cheap mod, but still below 50% of a dealer price (asked 2 years back how much it is - was over 20k USD in parts only and it was not a full set as realized later on when doing it in my car).
