Alcon replacement rotors

Alcon replacement rotors
Anyone have any luck purchasing aftermarket rotors for the Alcon equipped XKRs?
EBC, Akebono and Hawk confirmed that they don't make any.
Ksport makes a 400mm rotor but will only guarantee them with the purchase of their brake kits and they don't make a brake kit for Jaguar cars.

Have you tried Alcon USA?
Alcon brakes & clutches
Hopefully this helps.
The 350mm and 400mm rotors on the Portfolio Edition is the largest braking system that Jaguar put into their models.

Sounds like you may have a 2008-2009 XKR Portfolio Edition Jaguar.

I've been speaking with Ksport and they make a rotor kit that is the same size as our Alcon units.
Let me know if you are interested and I'll see how we can have these as a via brake option. These are 2 piece rotor designs with a 12 month warranty.
Here's a link to their Super Comp Kits
Ksport SuperComp Big Brake Kit
We would need like 15 paid orders to get a set made. We only build the complete kits with brake caliper and rotor assemblies, so no stock parts of the car would be able to be used.

olkarz1,
Did you see the Ksport prices? Their big brake kits cost more than twice as much as the OEM Jaguar Alcon rotors. Why buy Ksport? How are they "more sports oriented" than the OEM Alcons with 6-piston front and 4-piston rear red calipers by Brembo with the embossed "R" logo? And the crescent shaped slots in the rotors are unique.
I'm very pleased with my Alcons (except for the brake dust, but cleaning the wheels is a small price to pay) and will use only OEM brake parts in this instance. Aftermarket brake parts sometimes are better choices than OEM, but not in this case.
I have 36K miles on my XKR. Front pads replaced at 30K miles without turning rotors, rears still untouched. No noise, shimmy, pulling - simply perfect.

Also agree 120% with Stuart S. Have the Alcon's on my 2009 and the OEM brakes pads on the car and rotors remain with minimal wear. Of course my 2009 only has 16,400 miles. I see no reason to make a change and no reason to go with anything other than the original Alcon rotors and OEM pads when needed.
Of course any braking system is subject to wear and tear depending how hard you run your car. With us older folks, we don't drive as hard as we once did when younger, so the brake systems seem to last allot longer.
Just think what you have to look forward too in the future.

I have zero issues with the stock rotors on my Alcon setup. However, I would love to find a brake pad option that provided equal quality without all the brake dust. Still, small price to pay for this fantastic setup we have.

THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY:
The Good: I suspect that one reason our Alcon rotors last so long is that the pads have a relatively soft compound that doesn't tend to score the rotors. The Bad: Being a soft compound means that the pads produce more dust that a harder compound. The Ugly: Just look at your wheels!
I'm concerned that low-dust pads (ceramic) might score the Alcon rotors, which are very expensive to replace. I'd rather clean the wheels than have to replace the rotors.

There are aftermarket discs available in the UK for the Alcon-equipped XKR's but they do not have the half-moon grooves machined in them, the discs are just plain.
They are available from our sponsor SNG Barratt SNG Barratt - The Ultimate Jaguar Parts Specialist
For example, front discs are £400 UK list price each, the aftermarket discs are £45 each...

We have a couple of aftermarket options on these here in the US, one with the half moon cut outs and one without. Feel free to call me to discuss.

Good information guys. The upfront costs are greater but the replacement rotors are less that the stock Alcon units.
I'm not having the luck that most are you are experiencing with your brakes. 50K miles on mine and the front rotors are cracked and the rear rotors needs to be replaced too...
So that's $380 for the front pads, $340 for the rear pads, $850 x 2 for the front rotors and $450 x 2 for the rear rotors plus installation.
So that's $3790 at dealer cost plus labor. Those are the prices that were quoted by Hennessey Jaguar
I'm already at the price for the 15.7 (400mm) Ksport SuperComp kit and it comes with a 8 piston brake calipers, instead of our 6, and there are slotted or drilled options for the rotors.

If you guys want to go a bit hardcore with the Alcon setup then Spires in the UK have 2-piece floating rotors as a "step up"
Braking : XK 5.0 XKR Disc (LH or RH) - Floating (each)

I imagine though that even if these offer a performance increase over what we already enjoy, these won't be doing anything to help the dust issue. Still, I'd buy 'em for appearance purposes alone.

If you want to reduce dust then you need to change the pads.
I have EBC Yellowstuff pads on my XJR with slotted rotors, virtually NO dust whatsoever, and the braking is phenominal.
Also just fitted EBC Redstuff pads on my Land Rover, still getting through the bed-in period, but even in the 1st 3 weeks i've seen a massive reduction in dust. I also had the Red's on my old X-Type & once i'd put a few thousand kms on them the dust output was down to similar levels as what I see on the XJR now.
There are lots of other "low-dust" pads out there. If you are still running OEM pads then that will be the biggest source of brake dust...

Cambo351 I have the same Yellow Stuff pads on the rear and the Alcons on the front and I must say...the braking power with the combo is ridiculous!!! I am very happy with the new stopping performance.
Too bad the previous owner was soooo hard on the brakes with this car, that it needs both front and rear rotors on pads at just 47K miles!! But once I get the brakes swapped out I'll enjoy it more that I am right now.
