alternator…. or belt?
And yes, bearings wear resulting in noise.

While idling, put a wooden stick on the alternator close to the pulley and the other end at your ear. It'll be easy to tell if that's the problem. Course the NOT CHARGING indicator is, well, an indicator.

With RHD you would also be required to drop the rack in order to gain access to the engine mount from there the alternator ...luckily for you guys, your wheel is on the left side !

Its funny how we both have 2007 models and the alternators failed at the same time. However, a run of 17yrs is pretty good for an electrical component !

I sure hope it isn't the one I sent back. All numbers seemed correct but the elect socket was wrong.
I use ra for pricing comparison, primarily.
Too many times the parts are wrong, different, 'returns' etc. In my situation oft times delivered to wrong address and ra wants me to search nearby front porches.
My alternator went out @ 100,000, just after I had jump started it, I feel I might be responsible for the failure....maybe not.

Thought Id try and sneak it through the side door first before removing racks and engine mounts ..... it worked (subframe released, under carriage brace removed, level sensor disconnected , steering knuckle marked on splines then disconnected).

I think the most difficult part of this R&R is definitely the drive belt, which is going to be a nightmare to put back on with all the SAI in the way

Jack supporting subframe

Make sure you create enough room in order to feed the drive belt and draw a diagram just incase you forget the layout

I used a 3/8 extension and breaker bar to move the idler pulley as you can see i held it in place in order to get the driver belt over the last pulley being the alternator

Sneaking that alternator through the side door was always going to be the challenge on this job as there's a big nasty sway bar in the way !
