Amber warning light…

Default Amber warning light…

Hi, I had a new main battery fitted to my XK two weeks ago at the main dealer. Now, I’ve got an amber engine warning light.
so I checked the new battery and found the Neg terminal so loose I could take it off!
would this cause the warning ?
Booked it in for a diag check, at £240 per hour!!
any advice please?

Yes it's possible - get a OBDII engine diagnostic tool - something like this:

I will add that, if there was no amber warning light before the battery install, that is most likely what caused it.

Can you just tighten the negative cable? Might be easier than a trip to the dealer.

ALSO, as with EVERY new battery, it needs to be fully charged! "New" batteries are never (never) fully charged upon purchase.

Hi fully tightened the bolt, neg post is under size. That’s what I guess £300 gets you at the dealership 😫
no loss of power ext.

Many auto arts dealers can and will read codes for you. It’s worth a trip to get an idea of what you are up against

You could try getting a battery post shim at a local auto parts shop like these:

All, thanks for your replies it was all down to the poorly fitted Neg connection.
dealer sorted it and reset the light, which was letting me the MAF sensor was faulty!
always check the battery first!
