I know this is obvious, but I am **** when it comes to ensuring that expectations are the same when getting something repaired.

I would *ensure* that putting a new aspirator motor in will get rid of the sound. It seems kind of strange that such a motor would develop a "sound" like that over such a short time frame...but maybe the new motors have been redesigned to eliminate the buzzing sound?

He is going to ask a Jaguar tech on the man hours and details to the repair. My mechanic is one of the biggest British repair place in Boston area. I might be their first 2007+ XK client.

How would I do that?

I have this noise too since I got the car (used). Its not very loud but I'd like to get rid of it. My dealer also said it was normal. Did you notice a real reduction in noise after the part was replaced?

I'm facing this repair myself.

I just wanted to point out that the earlier part number and quote price ($248) differ from what I have found in other threads on this board. The repair seems much cheaper... See https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...nd-dash-69687/

Waiting on this result too before I start spending.

I just had my car in for service at the dealer for the same issue. I spoke to the service writer and he said it was normal. When I pressed him further if replacing it would eliminate the noise he said it wouldn't based on past experience. He told me they had replaced several at the owners request and the problem still existed after replacing the aspirator.

It really makes me wonder -- why not just disconnect the fan (by cutting one of the power wires to it)? I can't imagine the error being greater than a degree, and that shouldn't affect the climate control system too badly. I'll give the cleaning of the fan unit a shot but if that doesn't work this will be my next step...
