I have 09 xk convert and 10 xk coupe. I have had zero problems with 09 that were not corrected by putting in AGM battery. I am a normal driver, not racetrack man and I honestly cannot tell any significant difference in the usual useful power between the two. Both cars will go like a bat out of hell if you push them. I would not hesitate in purchasing a good 09 if you find one. I love these cars and it is much more than just their power, it is their leather, wood style and rareness. You can't go wrong with either year, just find one well cared for and the color you want. Good luck.

This forum has been a treasure of information for XK owners. I will honestly say, that if finances were an issue for my XK purchase, I would have gone the pre 2010 XK route. Yes there has been much discussion about the a/c drainage lines as well as the leather dash peeling and I believe most members (other than the very new ones) are aware of these threads. Since I happen to be fortunate enough to reach deeper and get a 2010 I went that route knowing that at least 2 "possible" issues might be avoided. Yes, not all owners experience these issues and may never experience them. Either car is equally beautiful while the 2010+ cars have the extra power. If I wanted a completely trouble free car I would stay with Lexus, but I do want as "trouble free" a car as I can afford. That being said, any well serviced and cared for 2007-2009 or newer XK is a great fun car that will not disappoint.

Bocatrip, very well said! I had two Lexus LS400s. They were the best built autos I have ever owned. I don't miss either one of them.

Still got the 1995 Lexus SC300 that was bought new 19 years ago. Never owned a car that long, but it has been such a fantastic vehicle I just can't let it go. Just bought my wife a RX350 and the Lexus dealer wanted it and said they would not take it to the auction but would put it on the used car lot at the dealership. I did not even ask what they would give for it - just drove it home following my wife in her RX.

I had a 1997 Lexus LS400. I agree, it was the finest built automobile I could've ever imagined, especially for price. It was also the most BORING car I could've ever imagined. Good riddance!!

Hee Hee... Ok. I too admit I came from a Lexus (IS350).
Amazing car in every respect....except when driving it...
Truly a soulless experience...

The funny thing is, I bought it when I was 21. I'm not sure what I was thinking...

But if it weren't for that car, I would've never ended up with Jaguar. That car taught me that there are much higher virtues than reliability and build quality...

I can't see myself without my trusty LS430. It is not only bulletproof but super comfortable for an aircraft carrier. I have no plans on giving it up unless for possibly a later year with Bluetooth and backup camera. It's the best companion car to owning my Jaguar. Never have to worry in case any gremlins take my XK into the shop longer than necessary. I'll always have my personal loaner to use until the cat comes home.
