That's one heck of a deal. Down the road those will be 250k+ all day long. They are one of the most iconic cars of an era, Ferrari, V12, awesome looking, etc... Has every check box to assure one day we will all be kicking ourselves for not buying one when we could...

The problem is they are one of the larger built Fcars so there are a lot out there. They are running from $40-$80K in any condition but because they made so many you need to make sure the maintenance is done and up to date. Seems those that bought them would delay service so that's where the issues are. Also a normal engine service is an engine out service so it ain't to cheap. Nice car though.
let me just level set here. as a multiple and long term Ferrari owner having experience in enzo era models, I do also know the tr well enough to positively state that you don't want a tr that is priced in the $45-80k range. a serviced, driver quality tr is in the > $100k range all day long.
yes a bunch were made @ approx. 7000 units over the entire production from 1985-95.
to get this back on track, I would prefer a 1994 512 tr @ $250k than some euro trashy looking Ferrari California all day long

Time for a reality check. You're a self-described "average middle income Joe" who's dreaming if you think you can afford a Ferrari, much less the cost of an "extended warranty". And what do you do when your extended warranty claims are denied? Do you have any idea of the cost of insurance and routine maintenance? They're not covered by those contracts. And if you have to finance the purchase, you're setting yourself up for a huge loss and a big hit to your credit rating when it's repossessed.
Learn what an "extended warranty" really is. Read this thread, particularly my Post #4:

It's good to have dreams about owning a Ferrari, and hopefully you will be successful and be able to afford it. But look before you leap.

True words. One of the the many great things about the X150 is that it's really easy to work on. When parts and the occasional lift time is all you pay for, maintenance fits easily under "hobby expense" rather than "OMFG you want how much for an freaking oil change?" How easy is the DIY on a Maserati, Porsche, Lambo or Ferrari?

I was just on a conference call and scanning ebay to pass the time. And I started looking at the 2010-2014 Ferrari Californias out there. A couple of things struck me:
1) How many used ones there are for sale: 2 times as many as same year XK and XKR's.
2) How beautiful they are in pictures...no doubt about that
3) How expensive they are
4) How short their warranty is 2 years 24,000???
5) they really are not that great in the performance spec department. Not even in the same league with the XKR. Certainly not in the XKR-S league.
So if there are any present or ex Ferrari California owners in here. Can you shed a little light on the Cali? Why so many for sale? Does Ferrari make more Californias than Jaguar makes XKR's? What is the appeal? Is the high price tag worth it?
Probably never going to have the WAF (Wife Approval Factor) to own one of these beautiful machines. So I'll live vicariously through others.
Thanks

Been a long time since I saw this thread. Since my last time posting years ago, a friend bought a California and I had several opportunities to drive it. It's one heck of car. Amazing brakes, beautiful drivetrain. Easy to drive. Steering is a little numb compared to a similar year Aston, but everything else is great.
