The programming to turn on the reverse camera function in a 2009-onward car is just one setting in the car configuration file. But this is one of the "locked out" settings that a dealer cannot change unless they get an engineering mode password from JLR Tech Support. And these passwords aren't given out on a whim, they have to be requested in writing with a story about why they need it, etc. My experience is that JLR does not want to do or endorse any modifications to vehicles, regardless of if they are new or well out of warranty, and the answer usually is no.
But there are some of us with the diagnostic tool and the functions like this are unlocked...
Nailed It!!! Does anyone know how to determine or which versions of SDD will allow you to enable the Park Assist Camera? The version my dealer had was 152.06 v.291 and it would not allow him to turn on feature...
I lived in Minnesota. As long as you go there in July or August you'll be fine IF you have several cans of mosquito repellent handy.
Twenty years in MN and I NEVER want to go back.
Oh, and from my research I sort of nailed it down that SDD version 1.50 or older will work for the CCF changes. That is according to several sources from Google, not my personal findings.
TexasTraveler, have you considered getting an older SDD setup for yourself? I've been tentatively thinking about it, which led to the supposed V1.50 statement. V1.34 should also be good, but not usable on newer cars, like 2014 and up. It has something to do with Not Recognizing Newer VINs.

I would certainly entertain getting my own SDD setup, if not to costly, but would have to learn more about it, to make a smart buying decision...
Holy *****, that's quite a read starting from six years ago and six hundred total posts. Ugh.
Oh well, guess I get busy........................... after my in-laws are done with their visit.
Isn't there a ten-minute Youtube video on what to get and how to use it?
A bit fuzzier than I first thought, but it may still have a lot of fiberglass dust on it from that stupid Mina spoiler. Course, these displays are pretty low resolution, if I recall.
Reverse Park Assist Camera activated!!! I’m stoked about this one!!!
Thanks to Cambo for the SDD and instructions, Jahummer for the parts list and some of the parts as well, and to Cee Jay for helping me along the past week... No way this gets done without you guys, I owe you all.
Thanks,
Aaron

HOLY SMOKES THIS IS A LONG THREAD!!! I finally got to this post and I'm worried that if I keep going I'll never find this post again. If I keep reading I might find the answer, but I might not, so I have to ask this now:
How do I get into engineering mode? I have SDD and the dongle thingy and I programmed a key fob. I'm barely capable of using SDD. But I'm good at figuring stuff out, and I'm good at fixing stuff that I break. And trust me... I break a lot of stuff.
So how do I get into engineering mode to enable the camera? I actually have a camera installed already, but it's going to one of those rear view mirror things. I'd rather have it going to the touchscreen.
EDIT STARTS HERE: LOL! The post of Cambo's I replied to was like 10 posts up. I seriously do not like this thing where everything is in one long-*** thread. The multiple pages were much better.
Anyway... I have a 2010. It sounds like I just need to get into engineering mode to enable the backup cam. I already have the camera installed and the wire has been run from the back to the front.

What you need is a modified X150 file in your SDD directory on your computer. What that file does is un-grey-out the option for Park Assist Camera. Once you go into SDD and look around, it's pretty easy to find out WHERE that option is, but without that modified file you cannot change the option to "with" (or whatever).
As you say, I find the "OEM" type camera much preferable than any add-on-type camera/screen thing.
Although touchscreen integration can be done, it takes a lot of time and effort and access to SDD that I don't have. I decided to use this $125 wireless solar powered backup cam from Costco. It's not as good as the OEM touchscreen backup cam, but it works fine for me together with the OEM parking sensors. And installation was quick and easy. The display unit fits perfectly in the ashtray with the plug and wire out of sight. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...option-206212/

I have the same unit. Works great for me too! Am thinking about another one to keep the nose clean.
