Cambo, if I recall when we were experimenting a few years ago on a project, the 2010 onward touch screens didn't work in the 07-09 models. Heating functions and seat heaters didn't respond because those modules were updated in 2010 onward models.
They did work though if they were re-flashed with 09 software which I was able to do successfully back then with your software.
Have you since solved for that also so a 2012 screen can be used in an 07-09?
you got an XK from the FUTURE!Elaborate please about how you got that??????
Back in the day, this top secret experimental XK was far ahead of its time with negative gravity suspension and nuclear power. It was stopped by the RAF and never saw production. Speculation is that the RAF was developing the same technology as evidenced by UFO sightings.
An insider's joke was that the Delorean Time Machine made famous by the Back To The Future movies paid tribute to William Lyons, who was known as "Mr. Jaguar", in this scene.
Has it got a cassette player? Cassette adaptor. Otherwise, $5 ebay FM/Bluetooth transmitter plugs into the cigar lighter.
Why?
Carplay sucks. Bluetooth sucks. Can't get the volume LOUD ENOUGH with ANY of the Bluetooth transmitters. They're ALL made in China and
apparently ALL use the same flawed chipset. Iphone to FULL VOLUME, Adaptor to FULL VOLUME, Stereo to FULL VOLUME and it's about HALF as loud as you want.
Carplay sucks because Apple ***** over Google Maps and Itunes / music you have playing "talks over" Map instructions to where you can't hear them. There
is SO MUCH LAG in the Bluetooth "packets" getting sent that sometimes they just get SWALLOWED. Esp if you use Google maps.
HONEST TO GOD, a $2.99 wired Cassette adaptor, plugged into a mini-jack to lightning adaptor, into your Iphone. WORKS BETTER THAN ALL THE OTHER SOLUTIONS.
Man I was getting hopefully reading this thread, but it looks like post 2011 XK owners are SOL getting CarPlay retrofitted.
I assume the best alternative is the Bovee 1000 and the media cable to stream audio?
Basically, pull the glovebox, pull the center stack bezel, pull the nav+stereo+hvac electronics bit, pull the shift surround bezel, pull the right hand side console leather bit, and then get to fettling! No splicing wires or anything, its all plug and play, with a bit of drilling plastic on the glovebox.
The kit came with excellent instructions, a supplemental manual (complete with an old *** ipod, 128MB usb drive, and "media player" photo on it), and a supplement telling you how to turn on the ACM in SDD/IDS. The instructions are for RHD, so note that when drilling the plastic for the glovebox that the RCA and usb plastic will be turned 180 degrees in a LHD car. So basically flip over the little aluminum brace and drill the holes based on IT flipped 180 from the manual or you'll drill too high for the holes.
Honestly the physical doing of the install was pretty easy and straightforward and the little manual did the job great! Then turning on the aux jack in SDD/IDS is not too hard, if you have a Mongoose/Mangoose, it can rewrite the CCF with that option added. I used the ACM turn on and it was slick. Remember of course to have a stable power supply to the battery (I have this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-PowerMa...53.m2749.l2649). Took about 10 minutes. This is something to pay the dealer for if you are not comfortable doing the programming.
So Boom! Now my XKR has the same line in capabilities as my 2011 VW. THE FUTURE IS NOW.

Yours should already have the Apple dock fitted as standard.
iPod connectivity became standard equipment in 2009, the last 4.2L model year, including steering wheel controls and touchscreen display. The first generation OEM Jaguar iPod cable did not provide simultaneous iPod charging while playing, but that was remedied in 2010 with a new and improved iPod cable that also worked in the 2009 models.

The Apple dock uses the old 30pin connection.
I bought the Bovee 1000 that connects to the 30pin connector and provides Bluetooth connectivity to my iPhone for music.
I use a genuine Apple 30-pin to lightning adapter and subscribe to Apple Music with all of my playlists fully accessible via the TSD as well as other features Apple Music offers such as stations, new music etc. I do not like the sound quality of Bluetooth streaming and prefer to keep Bluetooth for hands free phone connectivity.

Hmmm didn’t think about converting the 30pin to Lightning. Do they even make that anymore?
In any case Apple Music streams just fine from phone via the Bovee Bluetooth. Audio quality is fine for a car and the Bluetooth for phone calls works fine too. The exhaust soundtrack is better anyway.
First i would like to thank Cambo on all his posts ive gained some information that i hope will help me.
Originally i went into this project thinking i can DIY it even though its been stated not to.
Cambo and cartronix offer some solutions but they are not cheap. so i went to look into some other alternatives not to do but to ease my mind and feel comfortable spending that kind of money before even paying an installer. that being said i did find this and it does seem intriguing again my plan is to probably buy from Cambo or cartronix but i was curious about this hardware so i thought i would share.
Disclaimer Car interface has no affiliation to me and they also do not claim to support the installation
However they claim that you must open the monitor and install the pcb (seen below) as well as the other hardware and this should work on the stock touchscreen without needed the knob and buttons that it comes with. im skeptical but intrigued.
just to reiterate i plan to get the install done with cambos reccomendations this was just an attempt to share my findings
CI-RL2-GVIF-JA
CI-CARPLAY-UNI2
GVIF and a CAMP2? Cool.
I use a GVIF and an Android TV box with Torque Pro and a whole lot of other stuff on it. Youtube, email, the entire internet, actually. The only bad part is the TSD is fairly low resolution so the pictures sometimes get a tad grainy.
I took your advice and went to Mark @cartonics but wasnt able to get the full steering wheel control. Are you able to have a conversation with him so i can get this update done ? If it makes a difference I have a Dynamic R
Great work BTW really appreciated and makes a huge difference to me Cambo so thanks !
Does anyone know how the touchscreen integration has been achieved with this install? Is this all off-the-shelf units? Being in the UK, only option seems to be £1.5k at Cartronics which I don't really fancy and think I could have a good stab at a DIY install if I knew what the BOM was. I already have a GVIF/RPI/Rotary encoder solution for Android Auto from a previous car but this looks cleaner and a higher quality image.

Andrew.
Yes, Cambo's setup integrates the touchscreen. See post 7. You will need his HDMI GVIF box.
