There's no real intercooler on the R. Has anyone tried to address this? The hot months are mostly behind us now where I live but am planning on doing some sort of water/meth injection on the car by next spring. Has anyone had any luck with an install?

I cannot find any information on this. Is there anything you can link me to?

You can look under the hood. The intercoolers are beneath the black plastic covering. The heat exchanger is located in front of the radiator.

But water/meth injection would provide additional cooling.

2010 JAGUAR XKR Parts - Direct JPLV Porsche Parts.com

I see this for the 5.0 but it is behind the radiator and very thin/inefficient. An aquamist would do wonders on this car.

Not having an R, I never looked at this, but it appears Jag uses a liquid to air heat exchanger for the Intercoolers...
Kinda cool that this is the first car I have seen them used on!

I'm pretty convinced that instead of spending money on intercooler improvements, the funds would better go to making the rear end stickier. I find it's quite difficult to effectively use the power it has already... but that's probably just my amateur self.

What tires are you running today? I too think this car should have come with some 295 out back! Motor trend did a drivers car test and that was the only complaint and actually caused it to have worse track times than a Camaro and Mustake....

The XKR-S has 295's on the back, but I think the selection of tire is poor for this car (PZero). If they would have had a better, higher-quality tire such as the Michelin Pilot Super Sports, I have no doubt the times would have dropped, although by how much will remain a mystery for now. They complained the PZeros were greasy after 1 lap. That is ridiculous, how can you expect to get a good time when you only have 1 shot before degradation.

Well, I've only got about 14k miles on the car, and so the stock rubber is a set of Dunlop Sport Maxx. They're sticky enough, but I wouldn't buy them again. They tend to flatspot after sitting for a few days. If I leave it a week or more in between drives it takes a while for them to go back to 'round'. I've been using the new Pilot Super Sports on my Z and they're really pretty great. Bonus is they're cheaper than the Dunlops. Another few thousand miles and that's what is going on the XKR too.

The XKRs come with 285s out back. I'm relatively certain that with a new set of custom rims you could probably fit 305s, or maybe even 315s. I know that a couple people have put 20 mil spacers on just to push the tires out and they're claiming no rub so... <shrugs>
