Default Audio Alerts

I have a conundrum I need your help with as this issue is driving my wife nuts and making my life miserable. Recently the audio alerts in my 2012 XK have changed and started sounding extremely tinny and cheap. This includes the turn signal indicator and particularly the seat belt alert. I've checked with two separate Jaguar dealers and both indicate the audio alerts are created in the instrument cluster, which would need to be replaced at a cost of $1,400 for the part and another $1,000 in labour. Please let me know if you've experienced anything similar and what actions you took to resolve. TIA

It’s not awfully difficult to disassemble the cluster and inspect/test the speaker. If you’re not comfortable doing this, then I’d suggest you let the main dealer handle the repair as suggested, it requires proprietary software to program a cluster replacement.

From a decision analytic point of view, you might wish to compare the cost of cluster exchange with the net costs and benefits of changing… well, I guess you got it?
