Default auto climate setting

I use the auto climate but would like the fan speed to be on next higher setting as default
Changing the fan speed is an immediate exit from auto mode...

Is there a way to reprogram the auto setting ?
I guess you need dealer computer ?

Aaaah, so you don't hear the annoying sound in your other thread!?:-D
Could just turn the volume up on the radio.:-)

I don't get it why one would need a higher speed as default but each to their own.:-)

Tunning up the radio is a great suggestion for many Jaguar problems, same as the dealer suggestsion

and this is why I am here

Danny, I sometimes wonder if other posters bother to read location, in Sweden for example the average annual temperature is around 18c in Israel you easily experience 10c warmer and that's as an average that's probs 5c warmer than California! Am guessing this is why you probably want it on a higher setting?

No suggestion from me sadly excepting to turn it up once you're in

Hi Marky, that's just it. The climate control should meet various locations including the defaults which I wish to change...

BTW, in my Volvo S80 the auto climate control is superior to the Jag. It is on auto mode since I have the car and very happy with it

Maybe needs refrigerant? We got days with 30-35 degrees celcius and mine is cool.

Usually the fan speed is driven by the temperature control. Do we assume that you adjust the temp. setting to either a lower or higher number based on the outside temp. For an example the lower you set the temp. the higher (faster) the fan speed.

Yes, agree with you on the settings logic, however I would like that on the steady state after riching the right temperature the fan will mantaima a slightly higher speed which is exactly what the Volvo climate control does
I guess it's just different English logic which I need to live with

I don't know how the Volvo works nor do I know what the temp. tolerance is in the Jag but the reason the Jag fan varies in speed is because the temp setting is met and there is no need for a faster fan. When you set the temp does the inside of the car reach it and maintain it. Also when you 1st turn on the car/system does the fans go to high speed and start to reduce speed as the temp. meets the setting.

Danny was your Jag sold new in Israel?

Ask as it may be calibrated for some other country if not, and we both know 35c is quite cool for Israel, I was there last year and saw 45c

JMO, but maybe it has more to do with the size of the car. Your Volvo fan has to move more air to maintain the temp in the larger car than in the XK.

Funny you should mention that, in 1994 air-con was added to 'standard/pedestrian' cars for the first time in the UK, I bought a Ford Mondeo (you may call a Taurus?). My air-con was perfect, however owners of the Ford Fiesta (sub compact & two slots below the Mondeo) thought it too cold and those with a Galaxy (people carrier) found it wasn't cold enough. It transpired that Ford UK in their wisdom had fitted the same air-con system to all of their range regardless of the size of the interior. Hey but that was almost 25yrs ago and am sure they've learnt sommat by now

Yes it was sold new here. I guess if digging into dealer SW there may be option to change climate control defaults ...I don't have visibility into it unfortunately

But if you want a higher fan speed than AUTO is selecting, just rotate the knob -it takes less than 2 seconds (but as you will have thus opted for manual control, the system cancels the AUTO setting).

Since you live in a dusty desert.
Have you checked the cabin air filter?

One thing some people don't realize about "AUTO" is that if the coolant temp isn't hot, the fan does not come on High as it wouldn't do any good regardless. The fan WILL automatically increase once the coolant temperature reaches a point where it would be beneficial to actually warming the car.
I do believe the AC side also works that way, but with the refrigerant instead of coolant temp. Course it'd respond much quicker since refrigerant doesn't require secondary thermal energy.

Your car is 10 years old, the refrigerant leaks out in time. Have you had it checked?
As for now you feel it blows "cold" but after a top up of refrigarent the air might get alot colder.:-)
