Back to the XK(R) family...
I missed my two previous XKs. My '12 XJL is beautiful but, rides like a worn-out clunker. Not getting any satisfaction from Jaguar NA so, I will likely dump it.
So, what to get instead? Looked and test drove the V8S and V6 base F-type and they just fail to excite me. After the test drives I walked over and sat in an XKR and, YEEEESSS, I prefer it without a doubt. Considered a Z51-equipped new Stingray but, after all dicing with the variables the classic lines of the XK and its luxurious comfort won me over.
So, I am happy to announce that I am in the process of purchasing an Ebony/Black '10 XKR with less than 6K original miles. I did not think that I really needed 510HP, as 385HP in that car is more than enough unless tracking it. However, I am done with racing and track driving. But, this car and the price was too good to pass up, so XKR it is.
I will look real close to modding it, lowering the suspension mainly, putting in a good performance alignment and who-knows what else.
Picture is from the dealer's website. I likely will not have my car for a couple of weeks before delivery to CA.

That's great news, Albert. The Stingray is a great car I'm sure, and a spectacular bargain, but it'll be far too common to be "special" in the way that a lower production car is...particularly compared to something like the XKR. Looking forward to your driving impressions after some quality seat time. You'll appreciate the performance virtues of the R every time you drive it, even though you didn't specifically think you needed them. Enjoy!

Looks exactly like mine on the inside! Mine has the ultimate black exterior though. Great choice!
Do you mind me asking how much you paid for yours? I paid $44k for mine with 39k miles and the select certified warranty. Coincidently, my car was originally from CA. My local dealer in FL purchased it at auction after the original owner in CA turned it in off lease.

I don't see it as a close competition to the F-type. The XKR is much more focused on GT style luxury while the F-type is fairly plain in comparison, particularly when it comes to the interior. There is, for me, considerably more room in the XKR cockpit, while I felt too closed-in in the F-type, particularly with the top up.
I 'my sure that the F-type is a more advanced machine but if advancement was my primary target I would have gone with the Stingray ahead of the Jaguars.

Good luck with yours, I can't wait to get mine.

Well if somebody is considering the Jaguar brand for all that represents, and is considering a stylish 2 door V8 coupe or vert with an auto, and is accepting of their fairly heavy design, I don't think you're alone in being drawn to a little extra space to go with their fun times.
I always considered the XK(R) as a truly British Gentlemen GT. Elegant to be seen in, yet, fast and smooth when it needs to be.
Not sure where the F-type fits, it is not a roomy GT, nor is it a true, dedicated sports car. Hope it succeeds for Jaguar 's sake but it just doesn't stir my soul as the XKR does.
