Hi all
Im thinking of replacing my battery. Ive searched this forum but they seem to go off topic. I just want a good brand battery that will fit perfectly into the original battery tray. I dont want any non spec battery, just a battery to fit which is a good brand.
Any suggestions please?
And can I connect my ctec to the neg and positive to keep the memory while swapping?
thanks in advance.

Pretty much ALL batteries (US and UK) are made by the same company. Just get one with good CCA and the right group size and Carry On. Group 49 or H8 for you. AGM is fine, but not a significant improvement for the price since neither will last much longer than five years regardless.
Sometimes CTEKs won't provide any voltage unless it senses the presence of a battery. I'd not rely on that. Hooking a spare battery to the underneath jump points with cables is the safest bet, but then be CAREFUL with the detached cables as they will have power.

Probably not news, but Interstate (along with other brands) makes a battery that's the correct fitment for the XK. I just recently had to replace the battery in my new-to-me '09 XK - don't have the model number, but my shop looked it up. It was $299 with tax. I use my Nocco battery pack to keep 12v flowing if changing a battery.

Sounds like a shop that wanted to sell what they stock. Nothing wrong with Diehard. Interstate still "makes" batteries.

Hi,
I just changed mine and from my research I found that the Varta H3 are one of the best here and the bigest capacity you'll find in this size ( i found a 110aH before but once received I realised it was slightly too big :-( )

The original battery (AGM) in my F-Type is still going strong at 9.4 years old and has never glitched once or ever given me a problem.
I put this down to the fact that I hook it up to a battery tender (not a CTEK but same function) via the under-hood jump points pretty much whenever the car is parked in my garage.
Another possible factor is that I disconnected the start/stop secondary battery on day one of ownership 7.5 years ago and then removed that secondary battery completely about four years after that, anecdotal evidence is mounting that having a flat/dead/dud secondary battery connected up contributes to earlier failure of the main battery.
A number of F-Type owners here also report OEM batteries lasting for many years, one or two at 10 years +, and most regularly use a tender.
Last but not least I live in a fairly warm climate so the battery never suffers from getting really cold.

I had an AGM in my XKR. It lasted just over five years, exactly like the previous Non-AGM lasted which cost $70 less than the AGM.
I stick to what I said.

I would of thought it would be a simple task picking a battery. I did some googling and this one came up on the F Type forum.
