Afternoon all
I think I read somewhere that this is a known issue but....
Went out to my car in Dec after some severe weather and the battery was dead...it looked pretty old so I bought a new Bosch S4 and thereafter no issues. Went to start the car yesterday and it was dead....nothing....instruments panel out, not a flicker from the lights. Car is 2006 with 91k on the clock. Put a new charged battery in that I happened to have a spare and fired up no probs.
Duff alternator or something going on that's pulling the battery down ?? Any obs welcome !

Simplest way to check would be to put a multimeter across the battery terminals whist the engine is running and then rev it up a bit. The voltmeter should read at least 14V at idle and probably increase half a volt at higher revs. If it reads below 14V then the alternator is faulty or there is a bad connection somewhere.

The new battery may have been on the shelf a while and thus not fully charged. And recommend you fully lock the car when leaving it which helps shut the electronics down quicker and minimizes draw on the battery.
Try charging with a true battery charger of 10 amps or more. A battery maintainer does not typically have enough amps to fully charge a discharged battery.
