My obsession was the mk3 Supra - i spent years obtaining and restoring one only to see an X150 parked up, and the love affair was over.
I was told by a very experienced ex JLR employee heavily involved in the technical development of both X150s - "even if you are given a 5.0L, just leave it".
For me the X150 is not the best Jaguar but it is the coolest abd best looking road car they ever made...so much so that I had to have one.
The 4.2 will be the most sought after X150 simply because it will easily win the reliability contest in my opinion.
Great thread for starting a war though, nice one!

I think you came as close to nailing it as anyone on the forum could!

Interesting, I never noticed any similarities before but yes I can see where you are coming from. Funny the mk4 was to me one of the most unattractive GTs ever produced, the X150 the most attractive ever produced. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess - odd how we interpret what we see so differently

The thing about Supras that made them what they are is that the bottom end of the stock engine can take 1000+horsepower, and that can be achieved super-easy with widely available bolt-on mods.
I'm not a fan of Supras by any means, but that little tidbit is quite impressive.
The newer Mustangs are also capable of that 1000 hp on stock, but they already have 400+ to start with.

X150 is superior in every way that I care about! What do the say, Grace Space and Pace. In the spirit of the thread that the X150 is the best Jag ever I am offended by injection of a Toyota (just kidding, it is all good, just having a bit of fun!!!).
A tricked out Supra can take Pace, but whatever there are many cars that have extreme Pace nowadays. I have seen a couple of real nice examples on occasion and the Supra is respectable in it's own category for sure.

Tampa, I'm not sure I've seen a Supra here in the south east since I got my driver's liscence.
For a lot of younger people, it is a mythical being.
If all one has is artwork, video, and photos, the two can be quite similar.
I wasn't in the USA the last time I saw a supra, and a 4.2 XKR also came down the same street about a two minutes before it.
Their size is quite different, and the difference in angle space for where they terminate creates more differences in person.
By shooting each car with a different lens that lines then up, you can get a much closer resemblence.
For some one that has never seen a MKIV in person to know the scale difference; it'd be easy to think a X150 was a MKIV with a body kit.
Especially if the trim on the X150 was no longer chrome. The last time my X150 was mistaken for a MKIV the trim was wrapped.
