Default Best summer oil

Checked the How To/DIY section. Found the "official" Jag oil recommend. As of 2018, it's Castrol Edge 0-20 for all markets. Winter here typically in the 40's. Our summers are 90-100. It's an XKR and I like to drive fast. Synthetic 5-30? Stick w/ factory? Comments appreciated. Thanks

PO did oil/filter changes 2014 (23,500), 7/2019 (29,900) and 8/2020 (30,800). All done at Jag/Landrover dealer so should be to spec. Zero leaks, but a quart low (34,000). No smoke, runs great.

It gets hot here also, I'd not be against 5-30. That WAS spec until some years ago anyway. Higher miles and hotter temps should always warrant a slightly thicker oil. Course, you could always mix a few quarts of each... have 2-1/2W30

He's got an '07 - 4.2 litre - 5W30's always the proper spec, no other...

The spec you reference's for the 3.0 and 5.0 litre engines only and in warmer climes, main dealers often prefer 5W20 but you've a 4.2 litre, so 5W30's the proper oil...

I always forget that some people have the 4.2. It's a partial blind spot for me, I guess.

We use 5W-30 in our MY2007 4.2.

Check your rear view mirror. We're back there somewhere.
