Bigger tires for XKR?
Does it even make sense to try to put wider tires on the XKR?
Will they fit?
Has anyone tried?
If so, what size ?
I'm currently running the Dunlop stock 20's on a 175 and think I might be able to go a bit larger since I'm looking to do a tune and boost HP and torque?

I think there are a couple of us looking to see if we can stuff more rubber out back. I haven't bothered to look much yet because I need to spend another 5k miles or so on the stock tires before the CFO will buy off on the purchase. Fikse is located just a few miles from me, and happily makes custom offsets if needed. Question is... how much can really go under there without rolling the fenders? I wish I had some useful answer to share, but I got nothin so far. Definitely interested in what this thread develops though.

They got purchased by another company in 2010 I think. What I'm not certain of is if they closed the Kent location or not. What is certain is that you can still get Fikse wheels.
We need some local rim guru that we can go to and see what we can figure out. I don't mind spending the money, but doing this mail order would be a tremendous hassle for fitment.

I'd say drop my name as I have known them through local car clubs since the early 90's but it would be 50/50 as to whether they would cut you a break, or double their rates!
He had become well known for his knowledge of suspensions in the race circles here.

My 2009 sales brochure shows that standard XKs with 19" wheels were fitted with 245/40-19's in the front and 275/35-19's in the rear. All XK/XKR models with optional 20" wheels were fitted with 255/35-20 fronts and 285/30-20 rears. I'm pretty sure those sizes haven't changed since the alloy-body X150 was introduced in 2007, except for the rears on the 2012 XKR-S. I'm also pretty sure that the thin black rubber rear fender extensions have been standard on all XKRs since 2007.
The front tires on your 2012 XKR-s and my 2009 XKR Portfolio Cvt with Alcon brakes are the same , namely, 255/35-20. But the rears are different - mine are 285/30-20 and yours are 295/35-20. Looks like the factory gave the XKR-S, with 550HP, a slightly wider and taller tire.
My rear tires have plenty of clearance, and I've never had a problem with any tires rubbing the fenders. Do your rear tires rub inside the fender when you hit a bump?
Just curious - did your XKR-S come with a compact spare tire and jack with tools, or a 12v electric air pump with a can of fix-a-flat? Were Alcon brakes standard or available as an option on the XKR-S?
