Thanks for the info. It looks like the IOS 4.0 software is having reception issues on both the iphone 4 and 3G(S) (those who have upgraded to 4.0). There are several reports if you cover the left side of the iphone 4 that the reception bars goes all the way down to "Searching". I tried it and it does do that. Rumors are saying Apple might release a update (IOS 4.0.1) tomorrow or sometime this week to resolve this problem. Hopefully this update/patch works!

I replaced my iPhone 3G with a iPhone4. I had quite a bit of trouble getting my iPhone 4 to pair with the car, but it finally did. I have seen some bluetooth disconnects the first day, but they are becoming less frequent. Yesterday, no problems. Slightly off-topic: The iPhone 4 has a glass back, so it tends to slide around on the center console while I drive. Where do you leave your iphone when you drive? A stick on holder is out of the question.

thanks for the info. I haven't driven the Jag since last friday (been driving the SL65 mostly this week) so I'll take it out later today for a spin and try iphone 4 again to see if I have the disconnection problem. Looks like the ios 4.0.1 software update won't be available until next week now.
As for the iphone, I usually just put it in my pocket or just place it in the cigarette tray.

Upgraded 3GS to 4.0
I just upgraded my phone to 4.0 and aside from it not always docking the first attempt (it did that with 3.1.2 as well), my phone has been working like a champ.
As for where I keep my phone when I am in the car. I installed a Kuda phone mount along with a DICE pass though dock. This is more to be able to see what is playing through the ACM but it also makes for a very nice place to keep the phone while driving.
I wish the stitching on the mount was white to match my dash, but I guess that is just nit picking.

normally if your past phone work and the new one doesn't or acts weird its normally the phones problem. the software in the phone is the problem. Jaguar's bluetooth system don't have software upgrades so most new phones will work funny. my droid will not connect to newer XK's and new gen XJ. when the new xf came out took me 1hr to get a iphone to connect. that way fun lol.

I have an Iphone 4 and an 05 XJ8L. There is a loud ticking noise when you use the phone in normal hand held mode. The call recipient can barely understand a conversation it is so loud. I have tested this with two iphone 4's. No problem with the 3G or 3Gs or any other cell phone I know about.

LG phone
Check the lg phone. There are different bluethooth features and the LG may not have the feature to download your address book or to hook up to your car.

7/13/11 UPDATE: No need to manually input phonebook data. After reading p. 287 of the Owner's Handbook, I was able to get my phonebook to automatically download. It also updates automatically.

I need, so use, the Bberry Tour, which, since day one, disconnects at various points during the ride. If you all are having issues with the iPhone, I believe there is a Jag Bberry issue, not a phone issue, as the same phone has paired sans problem with my GMC and BMW. Jag says its my phone but its BS. It re-connects immediately every time.
