Bluetooth OBD ll tool
Hey Guys,
Was "futzing" around with some of my fellow mustang buddies and this little tool was mentioned....Thought this might be of interest to my "fancy car" gearheads...
ScanTool 427201 OBDLink LX Bluetooth OBD-II Scan Tool Interface
It was discussed here:
How to Unlock a Treasure Trove of Useful Data from Your Car
Nice thing about this it turns itself off when the engine is shut down....so no battery "pain 'n the drain" battery issues.
I'm going to try it out on my Venza. BTW, I have a Galaxy S4 (Android).

I've had this basic tool (and Torque app) for some time, and found in minimally useful. So many of the data streams are irrelevant even to the advanced driver. More important data such as oil pressure or manifold vacuum are not live streams from the ECU.
Still, I did do a data log on coolant temp to show my service manager my failing thermostat...
One area I am still hopeful for is to see if it will interface with Harry's lap timer, to provide more detailed track info.

OBD is mandated for emissions by US & other governments. They have no interest in oil pressure and so on. Cheap tools tend to just do the mandated stuff. Pay more for a better tool if you're interested in more features
Many cars don't even have an oil pressure sensor. Vacuum often available via MAP or the like.
