BMW 8-series

Funny how more cars eventually end up looking like the XK coupe.
Go look at my post from 2 years ago- I had compiled an entire list of them. Now this and the Lexus.
Incidentally, its not the only thing BMW 6/8 copied. They too switched to aluminum monocoque. Proving their earlier methods were wrong. Our XK has been an aluminum monocoque for the past 11 years.
Its reassuring that our design, external and internal, has prevailed more than their own.

It certainly looks smaller than the 6 series coupe, but that may be an optical illusion. The back seat looks as small as our cars'. The front has a huge overhang, I wouldn't want to go over too many dips, and it's too overwrought, but overall, I like it. It's elegantly sporty (like our cars). Thank goodness the Bangle era is dead and gone! Wonder what the 4 door will look like? (I'm not a BMW fan, but the 6 series 4 door is the best shape in their lineup, in my humble opinion)

This is all very good news for us XK150 owners.
Our shape, proportions and size is back in vogue.
Most folks were unaware of the riveted aluminum monocouqe and its implications.
They assumed that our car was big and bulky like the former 6 series which was its competitor and a flop.
Interesting how Bangle forced the hands of the rest the designers, Lexus seems to have done the same with their formula of exaggerated meaningless sharp lines.

I suspect it has more room in the rear than ours. Both head and leg room.
I read somewhere that Porsche Panamera shocked Porsche and became popular due to its rear seats. Rumors were that the next XK was going to have more room in the rear.
You Americans and your need to combine pleasures. I got to ride in my father's sports cars for my birthday.

I think the roof line looks more like a G35 than an XK.
It is a BMW, it will be very successful. The previous generation Bangle designed cars propelled BMW into the most profitable car company in the world. The 2004 to 2010 generation 6 series (645/650/M6) outsold the XK and in 2012 continued with a new modern body design while the XK fades to black. Jaguar is successfully transforming into a more mainstream car company that offers a mix of affordable performance oriented cars to appeal to a younger demographic. The only way to survive.
Having owned both cars I can say that I was equally pleased with my Bangle 650 and my now Jag XK. They each offered a different experience, the BMW handled MUCH better than my XK while the interior on the Jag is better. They both had equally classy presence that attracted attention. The BMW had that low wide stance with a bit of heft that was very masculine.

It's odd from a side profile view the rear boot over hang looks simply nasty , although from the overhead angle it looks brilliant and could pass as a Jag
Up front the nose/grille looks too large for the headlights so it really doesn't flow well. With a bit of tweaking this could not doubt be fixed.
This is one vehicle that will definitely need to be viewed in the flesh to make a proper judgement.

Very nice, i like it, front looks mean, great to see a car company not afraid to stick making a GT car , unlike Jag that seem to have lost what was the essence of the brand power car, seems that what some people want , these electric buggy style cars/mpv's. and now the F-type getting a 2.0T engine, it goes from worse to worse, If i was an owner of a so called sports car as the F-type is referred too and had a 2.0l under the bonnet and meet a fellow owners with the V6 or V8 version, i think i would be a bit embarrassed really. Come on jaguar get a GT out there.
