Brake pad wear sensor intermittent issue

Brake pad wear sensor intermittent issue
After changing my front brake pads and changing the brake pad
wear sensor, I get the alert "brake pads low" but ONLY
after waiting in traffic holding down the brake pedal for 4-5 minutes,
other than that the alert never comes up.
Any idea whats going on here?
Thanks

Over the weekend, I changed my pads after a sustained pad wear warning (it was occasional after car washes). Did the fronts thinking they were the likely culprit. Light stayed on, turns out it was the rears. My point, check the rear pads/sensor on passenger side.
New brake pads and sensors all around for about $200 and a bit of cussing at the rear caliper re-set.

You can disconnect each sensor one a time sensor and see if the connected one comes into alarm during the same events. The rear sensor is on the passenger side rear on my 2013.
Once you pull the wheel off you should be able see how worn the rears pads/rotors are.
My rear sensor was going in and out of alarm when the pads where worn down and the sensor had worn to the point of making contact. still has about another 3-4mm before being totally worn out.
Replacing the the rear pads where not all that bad but you do have to screw and push the piston back in the caliper for re-assembly. I only screwed mine back far enough to allow for reassembly of the caliper and pads. I was changing the rotors also so that made it easier.
