Bring a trailer: The final phase

Hey MoXKR... I'm absolutely rooting for you and feel your excitement. As with most BAT auctions, as you most likely know, it will usually be the last 10-15 minutes (or sometimes longer) that will determine where the sales price will end. Still plenty of time for you! Good luck to you!

Thanks for the kind words. Frantic? Yeah, absolutely!! I'm sitting here with a glass of Woodford Reserve trying to unwind. I intend to update my thread later this eve after I've worked out the details with my buyer...in California! Don't count me out just yet I'll probably stick around if I may...good folks here.

Ok, the odyssey has an end to it. As you may have determined by now my XKR has sold on BaT for $26000. Now that is some $4000 MORE than the highest bid on Cars & Bids. Even though the BaT auction cost $99 up front the results were obviously worth the investment. Again, if you are entertaining pursuing the auction scene, my experience with BaT was that it was a more time consuming process. From the informational insertion process to the time until the actual ad published it took 5 weeks. Both support teams seemed to be adequate, but C&B seemed more "personal" if that's the correct phrase. However, as Bob Dylan said, "Money doesn't talk, IT SCREAMS!!"
I cannot overemphasize that BOTH sites will do their best to attempt to have you lower your reserve ( BaT even has an announcement posted on your listing at the 11th hour of your ad that "You have not yet met your reserve and it can still be lowered.") Stick with your reserve, but do your due diligence in advance to assure yourself that you are not too proud of your car. With C&B if I had accepted their "suggested" reserve I would have been forced to sell at the $22000 "high" bid!
I hope that this explanation may be of some assistance to any of you looking to dabble in the auction game. And now, of course, I am working my way through the "now you get paid" process. I will post on that as it proceeds. Thanks to all for all of your kind words, encouragement and well wishes.

There are some complications in a mediated sale. With C&B in a post auction mediation if an agreement is reached between the two parties the buyer THEN pays only 2.5 % of the agreed upon price instead of the 5% due at the close of the actual auction.

My experience when I purchased my x150 was that because I did not win the car during live bidding, I did not pay a buyer's fee. I was the 3rd highest bidder and BaT sent me an email a few days after the close to ask if I was still interested, at my highest bid. I was, and they connected me directly with the seller. We then worked out shipping between us and did the deal.

My guess is that the auction met reserve but the winning bidder reneged so BaT went down the list. Perhaps the 2nd highest bidder didn’t want the car. BaT would’ve confiscated the winning bidder’s fee so they would’ve been satisfied already. Perhaps your bid was already higher than the reserve.

So this evening after a series of delays the delivery "truck" finally arrived to pick up my XKR and transport it to Arizona. I met the truck, showed him where to park and then drove back to the house to get the Jaguar or at least that was the plan. Got home, climbed into the XKR for the last time and when started the dash reads BRAKE LIGHT OUT!! Wonderful!! Everything else seems fine except for the blessed warning light. I really think that the car was not happy that it was moving and was displaying its' displeasure. The poor thing had not been driven for a month or so, but it had never displayed the warning as I moved it about for photography purposes.
I called the new owner and informed him of the malady, but now ( without a manual) I need some advice. The indicator shows that it is the left rear brake light malfunctioning. I'm open to suggestions. Bad bulb perhaps? Or??

Last look.
