Buying an xk
I am a defector from the X100 Forum. I currently have a '98 XK8 convertible, but have a really bad itch for a 2010-2014 XK. In looking around this forum I did not find a "Buying" string or sticky. So ladies and gentlemen, when buying a 2010-2014 Jaguar XK (N/A), Coupe, 20,000 to 50,000 miles, what should one be aware of and/or specifically look for in said car?
If there is a string existing on this subject, if you would be so kind as to pointing me to it?
Thank you all in advance.

My advice is to not worry about all the things to be concerned about because you're looking at cars that are over 7 years old and too many things can need fixing. Just keep looking for "The One", and inspect whatever you can as best as you can. If it passes your cursory inspection, tell the Seller that your purchase is contingent on a Pre-Purchase Inspection by a local Jaguar dealer at your expense. That should cost under $300 and must be done using the Jaguar Select Certified Pre-Owned Checklist, including an estimate of the cost of parts and labor for recommended mechanical repairs. You can use that report to negotiate a lower price from the seller. You may also want to get a PPI from a body shop qualified to do Jaguar aluminum repairs to know if any body or paint repairs were done properly.
Never rely on CarFax or similar reports to buy a car, since they report only events that are reported to them, and not all accidents are reported. But you can rely on CarFax to not buy a car.
Good luck with your quest!

One other thing - if you have specific questions, the easiest way to find answers on this Forum is with Google. The Forum Advanced Search function works great, but Google is easier to use.
Go to Google and type "Jaguar X150 Forums" (don't forget the "s" in Forums) followed by key words for your search.

NevadaXk8,
I am also a "defector" from the X100 forum, and all I can say is that since I got my X150 XKR (2010), I can't bring myself to drive my X100. The difference in ride quality, handling, overall feel is so much improved that I just don't enjoy driving it, so I don't.
As for what you need to look for when buying, I would suggest that the most important thing on the 5.0L engines is that there be a service history showing regular and timely oil changes. Without a dipstick, and the pain in the rear effort needed to check the oil after the car is started, most owners don't bother. Secondly, I would want to drive the car and feel and very taut suspension with no extraneous noises coming out of the front or back. Otherwise, good luck in your search, even after 180,000+ miles on mine, it is still a pleasure to drive and look at.

From reading this forum and the way some on here rig their cars, I would definitely watch out for poor "repair" practices with home made non standard parts. Great advise to get the car checked over by a Jaguar dealer. They will spot that kind of stuff in a heart beat and price the car accordingly. Also another big one is to make sure the car has had oil changes done with the proper oil. Many 5.0 have timing chain tensioner issues at around 80-100k and most of this is caused by using non Jaguar spec oil combined long change intervals which does not help.
