Default Buying an XKR 5.0

OK, third time lucky, I've managed to post this question in the wrong forum twice already, apologies to anyone who was annoyed.

My question is: I'll be looking at XKR's soon with a view to buy probably a 2010 or 2011 model. What should I look out for? Is there anything specific about this car I need to be aware of when buying?

I'd be grateful for any advice.

Your question has been asked and answered many times, so I suggest that you read this and if it doesn't answer all of your questions ask us again. Good luck with your search!

Make sure you have a service history that shows frequent oil changes, and check the dash for pulled or bubbled leather. The 5.0L engines need to have regular oil changes and can suffer consequences if not done in a timely manner. The leather dash "shrinkage" is the single most complaint post on this forum and although fixable will cost you some money.

And will add that the dash leather problem isn't specific to the years you're looking at or even the model. The XF, F-Type have it too, as do all model years of the X150 (though certainly not every car has the problem. You'll know it when you see it.

If you have it down to 2010 OR 2011, get the ten, for sure. They came with more stuff OEM than the elevens do. Just the Adaptive Cruise, standard on the '10, is a very expensive option on the '11.
If it were ME, I'd probably make a year jump and look for a 2012 or newer. Sleeker front end and a backup camera.
