Default Bye XKR hello 458

So just to let you guys know what has happend..

Have owned the car for 2 days now, and here are some thoughts.. my 2 cents

1. Car is mind-blowing fast, I knew this and I am not newbie when it comes to owning and driving fast cars, F430, XKR 2009, 997 S ect ect, but this is a real super car, complete other league. 0 to 200 in 10,4 sec.... now that is crazy...
2. I always change the exhaust of my cars, but I will not be doing this on the 458, the thing is a screamer.. Sounds great.. but not as sweet as the XKR with sports exhaust...
3. So beautiful to behold at every angel, and such an attention grabber, all from kids, guys and women of all ages pull out the smart phone and start recording ect…
4. Now the things that I find difficult to adjust to. The menu for entertainment, toggling around and adjusting to optimal setting is not so intuitive.
5. Ceramic breaks a really good but they squeak quite a bit, as ceramics should...
6. I find it hard to drive the car at a steady and comfortable pace without having to choose the highest gear, the throttle responce is so precise and instantaneous.

All in all, really really happy with the purchase and looking forward to many many fun miles ahead of me.[IMG]

It really is a great looking car - just yells "FAST!" even when it's standing still.

Bellissimo!

The size of those brakes! And those lines...

How beautiful is the paint? Is it noticeably better than the XKR's?

Is the car 'liveable'? Not that I'd ever relegate such magnificence to daily driver role, but can you give a ride to a non-car person without them complaining about the ride, noise, entry and egress, etc? I'd imagine even non-car people are in sufficient awe to enjoy the ride regardless, but how does it rate on the 'severity' scale around town, in traffic, etc?

What a car! Not much to look up to as a fantasy car from where you are at, my friend...

There are some nice rides in Sweden but cars of that caliber are not very common.

I was there visiting my mother last year (I grew up there myself), and I borrowed her Jetta to run to the airport and pick up my lost luggage. I stopped on the way home to fill up the car before returning it and it was $129 for a little more than 1/2 tank

Sweden is supposed to have the highest concentration of American cars in Europe.

American cars are popular there but they are mainly they older "classic" cars, muscle cars etc. I have a couple of friends who make a living buying cars over here and importing them in to Sweden.

Default Compare Brake Specs: 458 Italia and XKR Alcon

I thought you would find this to be an interesting comparison.

458 Italia specs: see this link 458 Italia - Brembo Brakes
Rotors, F/R: 398mm/360mm carbon-ceramic
Calipers, F/R: 6-piston/4-piston

Jaguar's R Performance Alcon brakes, which were optional on 2008-2009 US XKR and standard on 2008 UK XKR-S:
Rotors, F/R: 400mm/350mm cast iron (by Alcon)
Calipers, F/R: 6-piston/4-piston (by Brembo)

Sure, the XKR is no 458 but note that Jaguar was at the cutting edge of high performance brakes 6 years ago! I'm referring to the rotor/caliper sizes; not the carbon-ceramic rotor material - way to noisy and expensive. Still, the size of the rotors and calipers is impressive!

i'am a car guy, but i feel exposed in cars like this, 'cause they draw way to much attention. today i like the distinguished appearance of the jags. maybe a question of age.

have fun with your new ride.
