I usually drive premium rental cars... and in comparison to those I much prefer the climate control in the Jag and the LR.

My wife drives a Volvo
The climate control is rock steady. Far superior than the Jag (on that only...)

Florida user also, thing is I never use Auto and neither does my Wife. Not because of how it works, mainly as 90% of the time we jam it on the lowest temp setting at highest fan when we first get in the car. Freakin' hot dude. When the cabin gets cooler all we do is adjust the fan rate, always on lowest cold.

That is the practical solution to the problem of temperature fluctuations.
