lol... actually we were just a dash harness away. Of all the things I couldn't find. I have all new info center tilt steering motors etc, body harness, all control modules I needed. But that harness proved most difficult. Thats why I started looking for a donor car. But at auction... even a 5k donor resulted in $2500-$3000 additional fees then shipping...1500ish from all i found... so when this car came up...it's a no brainer...which I need more of 😆😆😆

Looks like it might be more cost-effective to make this a parts car: wheels, fenders, lights, etc. on ebay.

But what would I work on then? Lol

I will use the donor for parts...hopefully a wreck to.fix somewhere down the road, once I get the new to me XKR going. Currently putting a rear diff in my XFR...have to get that done to free up the work bay...but that's a different thread over in the X250 forum lol

There seems to be a greater market for parts and donor vehicles than there is for "rescued" XKs.
I'm thinking that there are more of us who enjoy the challenge of "the project" than there are willing to purchase the end result.
Market dynamics, near term, may resemble what they say about boats - a hole in the water into which you pour money.
As much as I don't agree with "make it a parts car", the idea that we may be able to sell the completed project to recover our costs just may not work.
But, no joke, I see another version of my "dream car" on COPART/IAAI that needs my attention!

Yes i am one of those that has to be tinkering in the garage. And it hurts me to use the white one as a donor...it is beautiful. But If I can get the engine out it's possible to be driving an XKR in a matter of a couple of weeks. My biggest issue is the time to do it. I only am getting an hour here and there. Hopefully they will deliver my diff seals today and by Tuesday have my XFR out of the garage and slide the donor in.
