can't get gas into tank 2007 XK
Went to fill today and it won't take gas; tried different pump, no go. Tried another station ; no go...........
Any ideas please?
thinking to check the CCV (canister close valve)! Is there one?
Did a search nothing for XK's
Never tried to refill with such an empty tank; but don't see any relevance.
Cheers, Adrian

Adrian,
The gasoline nozzle is shutting off prematurely because of back pressure from your tank; it's as if your tank was full (but it's obviously not). When gasoline goes into the tank it displaces an equal volume of air/gasoline vapor. But if the vent line from the tank to the charcoal canister is clogged up, that air/vapor can't get out of the tank. So when you try to fill up, back pressure causes the nozzle to shut off. Before spending big bucks to have your clogged vent line replaced, try to clear it out by giving it a few short blasts of low-pressure compressed air.
One common cause of a clogged vent line it overfilling the tank, which can cause fuel to get into the vent line and clog it up. Think of that vent line like the trap under a sink - if that vent line has a dip in it and gasoline gets into that dip, it can prevent air/vapor from getting past. That's one reason why gas stations have signs that tell you to not top off your tank, in addition to preventing spills.
Also, some gas station nozzles are more sensitive than others and can't dispense fuel at a fast rate. Try pumping slower, by setting the fill trigger lever on the pump handle on the bottom notch.
Let us know if this helps.

Stuart,
Tried using a gas can; after a minimal amount (ozs) gas stayed in filler neck.
Still looking for vent pipe & cannister ! I was able to blow vacuum cleaner air into filler; didn't help.
Will remove right rear fender liner next and take a look..............
My JTIS XK Disc no help.............
So...........
Thanks , Adrian

These jpgs attached might help.
Looks like that puppy is located on the top of the tank. Not a real fix, but...........if you can get a couple of gallons in the tank (real slow to happen in your case), I'd drive that car in a wild and crazy manner for a few miles hoping something good happens. As in shaking 'something' loose to fix the problem.
Your problem scares me. I'd hate to be 1000 miles away from the house with this problem.

02 XK8 ran out of gas because thought gauge not working
Had never heard of the vent issue on filling tank. Like many above, I tried 2x to fill my tank only to get air/gas blast back first time and only 1 gal 2nd time. Figured I was full and gauge not working. But I finally came to a stop and had to be towed to my mechanic who blew out charcoal bilts in the vent line. Weird.
the note tonot overfill sounds like a good idea! Thanks for all the info in these posts. AltoPaul
