Car Covers

For my S-type, the best cover I thought for outside storage (dammit) and a fair amount of sun, was the Covercraft Evolution/Technalon 4. Its at advance auto parts for $228, then a 20% discount. Free shipping, but tax. Comes to $198 for me. Other online stores had the cover cheaper, but had expensive shipping, or did not favor so well on resellerratings.com.
The price will probably be different for your XK. And I am sure that there are people having good experience with car covers who will chime in with their knowledge.
Of course, nothing beats a garage. (wish I had one)

It sounds to me like your real need is a "dust cover". Given that your car will be covered while in a garage ,I would go for a cotton cover with the weight of a heavy duty bed sheet.
You can pay a lot of money for these so called UV protective covers that look and feel like processed paper/plastic that are a PITA to fool with. Some of these products look like the would scratch the pant. $200+ for these products is ridiculous.
BTW My 07 XK required an Extra Large size cover.

The Perfect Inexpensive Car Cover!
If all you need is UV/dust protection, this is the cover for you! I just bought this Budge B-3 cover and it exceeds my expectations, particularly for the super low cost! The fabric is nice and it is well made and fits perfectly, as if it were custom made for my XKR. It's a basic cover, without any mirror pockets or door zippers, but it is soft inside, breatheable, and easy to install since it is lightweight and has an elastic hem all around the bottom.
See this link for details: Budge® B-3 - Car Cover Only $22.50 here, but I bought mine at Wal-Mart for $22.99 + tax since I didn't want to wait.
I bought it to use solely in my garage during the winter, since I will be driving my XKR less frequently. If you need a cover for outdoor use in inclement weather, this is not the one to get.
Here it is installed on my car:

Just ordered the WalMart special here recommended by Stuart. Will let you know how I feel about it when it arrives and I break down and actually use it. Sigh

Buy a low priced car cover for in the garage. While many car owners are diligent at first using the car cover often, many owners quickly learn a car cover easily becomes a pain in the ***. Having to take them off, roll them up, store them, then replace and remove all the time.
If the car will sit for weeks and months at a time, then a-ok on the covers. Those car owners who use the vehicle frequently end up storing the car cover more than using them.
A $50 universal car cover will do the job fine for indoor garages. Be sure to get a cover that fits bulky over the car. The bulky cover is much easier to get on and off.
If you're using the cover outside, get one that fits nice and tight. Bulky covers on the outside can blow off the car easily with the wind. Bulky covers will allow dust and other dirt particles to get under the cover.

I need a car cover for Ruby (2010 XK) only while she is parked outside for a few days while I use her garage spot for my daily driver (a 2005 Buick; needs some repairs that will take > 1 day if I do the R&R!).
In other terms, also cheap; I don't see spending much $; definitely <$100.
Any suggestions?

ABSOLUTELY. Ground Moisture will percolate and get trapped UNDER the car cover. This can and often does make a mess of a lot of stuff.

I purchased this one and besides my car being so slippery from the ceramic coating, it was also too small, size 2, not 3, like the member above recommended.

I will return it, as it was super cheap feeling and may end up scratching my coat. No felt interior, etc. I ended up purchasing this one for 134.00 with the 10% off coupon, and I feel good about it given the money I spent to get it into show shape.

Semi custom is good enough for me. Otherwise you're talking over 300.00 for silk stretch, etc. And yeah, trying to be a car guy, but not a ridiculous one. To each their own.
