Car Insurance

That makes sense to a degree. They would not have a baseline until my next inspection since, as I said, Hagerty did not ask for the mileage on the car when I applied. But after that, I guess they could check it.
When I applied, I put down 5,000 mi/year and thought that would be plenty. However, winter has been so mild and the roads relatively salt-free so far, and I find myself driving more than expected. At this pace, I might well exceed that number. I'd better be careful, since I would not want to jeopardize this good policy. I suppose I could go back and tell them to rate me at a higher mileage.

No question about that. My wife once worked for a property and casualty insurer and would tell me about how far the claims department would go to find some obscure provision to support denial of a claim.

Hello Bill Mack
I just got my Hagerty renewal paperwork and no mileage info requested, just money. Only car related info asked was in a voluntary questionnaire asking if the car was in a fully enclosed garage (although less than full enclosed storage can be OK in some locations... probably not in south Providence though!).
Otherwise, I think Lowpass is correct in the policy is issued on the honor system and you already specified a daily driver for routine trips. Their web site says give them a call regarding "flexible usage" if you have a question. I think they'll understand good winter weather means more pleasure driving time... could be terrible next year so probably balances out.

I have Hagerty.
I have this insurance on my 2007 XKR. Since my car is not a daily driver and it met their criteria I was able to use them and it cost about half what my regular insurance company quoted me. Right after I got coverage, I hit a deer. They were easy to deal with. But you should take note. You set your own coverage limit. And ur premium cost is directly related to that limit. when I set that limit I didn’t realize they will total the car if u get within a percentage of the limit u set. I bought my car at a good deal and set my limit for what I bought the car for. My damage was minor and superficial but with parts costing what they do. The repairs were costly. They wanted to total and pay me off with what it was insured for. I thought ok. So I looked around for a replacement similar XKR. I couldn’t find one in the same price range. So I had to convince them to cover repairs rather than a pay off. I had a hard time but got it done and got my car repaired correctly.
But to be clear they treated the situation really well and I would recommend Hagerty.

I just made the switch and my pricing across the board was PHENOMENAL!!! With the carriers I normally quote car insurance none are writing home owner policies in my area so I can't take advantage of a bundle discount. However State Farm is able to accommodate home and auto. I am going to save $2780 per year on my car insurance (cut my total rate in half for auto) and another $370 on my home, so $3154 total annual savings. This for like coverages.
I owe you guys.

For those that mentioned State Farm on this thread I owe a big thanks. Hadn't considered them in the last several years and with my USAA insurance policy coming due with another increase, decided it was time for my annual price review. I got quotes from several carriers and due to the honorable mention of State Farm in this thread I threw them in the mix.

Sometimes there are insurance providers at some of the larger events, there specifically for that event, and from ambiguous providers. They usually have one of those Vendor Booths with a sign or some sort of advertisement on it.
Would they actually pay out if there was a claim? I personally do not know.

We offer two deductible options:
We offer two deductible options:
- 10% with a $2,000 minimum and $12,000 maximum
- 15% with a $3,000 minimum and $18,000 maximum
This is per event.
I've always been taught to only race what you can lose, but that's probably an old sentiment; the only drag racing I've ever done though was on my sportbike (legit at a track, never done the street), which is only worth a few grand anyway and it being damaged is the least concern if I mess up on it. One of my friends has a race team in Lemons racing, and obviously, cheap crap cars and very likely cosmetic and mechanical damage in racing; and not worth insuring.
The HPDE insurance though is neat and gives lower exposure when taking a nice car out but I have the same concern as CeeJay that I don't know cost and payout details; and I know no one who has bought or made a claim on these insurances.
