If you enjoy rubbing the contours of your x150 as much as I do, follow along.
I discovered this product back in 1990 when I would motorcycle tour. At the end of most days I would unwind by washing my bike and wiping it down with protect all.
Fast forward to 2021.
I purchased a 2008 xk convertible in Black…not my favorite color for many reasons two of which are the heat it absorbs (living in Texas) and trying to keep it ‘looking’ clean and shiny. But it was a reasonable deal and I wanted to get on with life’s other adventures.
The car has 90K miles on it and all the associated stone chips one would accumulate over that amount of mileage.
I spent over 8 hours compounding the finish and was thrilled with the outcome. Even up close it looks stunning but if truth be told, the entire car should be repainted. I used to operate a restoration shop and have a critical eye. But…it really looks good enough.
I put a final coat of wax on the vehicle and hoped for the best…not to be!
The millions of tiny nicks all had wax build up that showed as white specs, resulting in a freckled finish, although when I pointed it out to others they looked at me like I was crazy.
I then remembered the old Protect All product and found an ancient bottle of it in my closet.
I applied it and was happy, several days later I washed the car after a drive and just for the heck of it reapplied more product. Once it is applied and wiped down the finish is almost as wet appearing as a glaze one would apply at a car show…the issue is it does not retain the gloss very long, maybe 3~4 water washings.
I cannot attest to the claims of durability or UV protection etc but I can say that
it is easy to apply
it does not dry white
It can be used on black plastic/ seals etc
It can be used on glass, chrome, SS, etc
I don’t use it on tires as it does not give much rubber darkening
I can apply it to the entire car in 10 minutes or less.
I enjoy wiping it on the Jag and seeing her glisten.
That, while clean, looks a lot like a ceramic coating. How long does the effect last?
I may give it a try, looks good!
Not long
The white car in the garage, setting inside no weather...I can reapply after 2 weeks and see a difference and the car never sees any car washes etc.
The black car still looks good after a few weeks of driving but when reapplied it looks so much better, still, it is easy to apply, cheap and I don't need to worry about cleaning wax build up from joints, black mouldings or chips.

I don't wash my car often, as I usually wipe it down with detailer very regularly. I also use some Maguiar's spray wax, but that does sometimes dry whitish. My car isn't black so it's not super obvious, but dark gray is still a problem.
Still, I now have some of this stuff in my Amazon cart.
The pictures look beautiful! I too have an aversion to black vehicles, but when they are clean they're striking......they simply require a dedicated owner, as you appear to be.
