I'm ordering some nano coating (Sonax) for my wheels. I'd give it a go on the rest of my car but I don't think it's option for me yet.
Car is black and has micro pitting on the front bumper cover and a few minor chips on the hood. I swear the previous owner sat at home and waited for sandstorms to come along before he'd take the car for a spin:-)
I use a black wax which hides all of it very well. So well that you can't see the blemishes until about a foot away.
Ultimately I need to have the hood and bumper cover resprayed before I could consider ceramic coating correct?
This is a bit rhetorical, but if I strip the wax and clay bar the car, those pits will show. Ceramic won't hide anything. So while the wax has to be done twice per season and it's not as shiny as ceramic, I'm stuck until I can respray.
Here are a couple of low priced examples. These are paste and/or liquid waxes that have a color dye in them. There are several colors, but since my car is black....
Immediately after I had all 4 of my Selena wheels completely refurbished last December, I used this product to nanocoat them before I put them back on my XKR. It's made in China and I bought it on AliExpress.com for $17.27 delivered, which was much less expensive than other similar products. Sure, it's only 1 ounce, but a little goes a long way and I still have some left over. So far, so good! Brake dust wipes off very easily with a damp microfiber towel and the finish feels very smooth and slippery. Definitely nanocoat your wheels! Note that the end product is only as good as the surface prep.
Collect your brake dust and mix it into the clear nano coating and apply to wheels. Future brake dust will be invisible and you'll never have to clean your wheels again. If you can't see it, it never happens!
do you know what they do at the dealership with cars that have hundreds of rockchips- they paint each one of them with a fine brush. Its a lot quicker and thousands less than painting.
