Center touch screen display removal

Center touch screen display removal
I must replace the HVAC center register on my 2008 XKR. The Jaguar shop manual says to first remove the center touch screen display to gain access to screws holding the HVAC register in place. Can someone give me pointers on removing the touch screen display? Thanks.

See the attached TSB as it shows how to remove the center stack. You don't have to go quite this far imo. Once you remove the trim, there are 6 Torx screws. The two on top hold in the center vent. They are smaller that the 4 that hold the entire center stack. Don't recall the size myself.
Obviously remove the two top screws completely but then you should be able to loosen the other four, enough to pull it forward, but not completely out. The center vent than can be replaced. If it's not enough then fully remove all the screws. Always lay a towel down over the center console as the unit is heavy. Also before you start, turn ignition in on position, place vehicle in drive, set the part brake and then turn off ignition. This will give you room if you need to fly remove the center stack because the shift gate is out of the way. Leave everything plugged in to the center stack You're not having to remove it.

plastic removal tool is best. Avoid a screwdriver it pays straight out. You can use your hands and pull gently from the bottom. I think there are two clips on each side the there it one that snaps into the middle of the center vent you're trying to replace. Use the plastic pry tools. They come as a kit and are cheap. Remember pull straight out toward the back of the vehicle.
