Comments on XKR when dirty
#21
I have no room in my garage, so I have kept my Black XK outside with a Covercraft Noah cover through the fall and winter. I have to say, I didn't need to wash the car all season. I took it out every sunny day I could when the snow was off the roads. The cover has worked out great... maybe some light swirl type marks around the haunches, but honestly they may have been there since I got the car. Getting the cover on and off takes me just a few minutes now that I've done it a bunch of times. I give it a once over with a car duster before putting it back on. I'll probably keep using it during the rest of the year to keep off the bird poop and pollen.

Right now in the Carolinas it is impossible to keep any car clean. I did a mini detail this weekend. Wash, clay bar, wax. I took the XKR out yesterday for a drive and it had yellow pollen all over it. And it stays in a garage.
Ah spring in Charlotte. Where everything outside turns yellow for a month!!! A keep a duster in the trunk. But it only gets about 80% of the pollen off the paint.
I was actually disappointed. I had to stop for gas and no one commented about the car. That does not happen very often.

We are still pretty far off from pollen season, but there's no escaping it covering your car once it's season.
