Comprehensive “walk around” checklist for a 2013 XKR..XKR in general.
I’d don’t see mention of one in the sticky section…
is there a list or guide that a new user could follow while checking out a prospective car. Perhaps including common issues or things to look for that may not jump out etc.
interior…
under the hood..
etc
more visual stuff and functionality checks of items on the car. Not talking about compression checks..oil analysis things that require wrenching. I’d like to follow an organized list….like a check list format
2013 XKRs is the car I in question for me, I’d assume a similar list would work well for any XKR.
thanks guys

The best thing to do IMO is to get a pre-purchase inspection from the local Jaguar dealer. It is the same as a CPO inspection and should cost around $500. It would not hurt to take it to a Jaguar certified body shop. Our cars are all aluminum. Good luck!!

thanks...Yeah the PPI is on the list, the dealership is booked up though.
+1 on the PPI and Thorley book. Maybe there is an independent Jaguar specialist shop you could get in sooner.
Also review the documented maintenance history.

Suspension Bushings - they wear with both use and age. Sometimes it's just the boot covers, but not always. That should of course be part of your PPI but it's a common complaint on all XK variants.
A couple of things that separate the 5.0 from the 4.2, SC or not. The 5.0 engines have a history of water pump issues and the timing chain tensioners is also a prevalent issue in the 2010 onward (5.0 L).
You can look in the other forums such as the F-Type and XF and you'll see those same issues crop up.
Consider having your inspector listen to the engine on cold startup - not sure if there's any other premature sign of the tensioners failing than the death rattle. Also have them look at the water pump weep hole for leaks.
I know those aren't walk around items but you'll want to have them checked.
Leather separation is a problem on the dash primarily, but also check the door cards. This is a common Jaguar complaint with their modern era cars and can easily be spotted in a walk around.
Did you end up buying the XKR-S? If so, welcome to the family. I've had mine for about 6 months now and adore it.
yes....just waiting on possession of it. It has flashed a few Codes that have to be taken care of before i will officially take it and they cant legally sell it though. Wont pass smog. ( the battery was recently replaced so Im not sure if that is part of the issue also). Some of the codes do not clear immediately. Been using the search on here a bit lately and have already downloaded the shop manuals. Looks like i need an official jag code reader or something to get the other 2 digits on this code? (81,82,83 or 96)
any input on remedies for these....

Graham responded to that code in an earlier thread:

Because I bought a 2013 Aston Martin V8 Vantage 6 Speed.
