Default Considering CoPart 2013 XK project

Visiting from X308 forum. Always looking for a new project. Take a look at this XK.
https://www.copart.com/lot/44064343/...l-mobile-south
Except for the nose, looks in good shape. Plenty of warning ligts. I'd go to the yard to start and put a scanner on before bidding. My main criteria is a very good paint/body and a running engine. Plenty of time to chase other problems down. I've searched Car-Part.com for any parts related to the front bumper. Search comes up with none available and a message to get on their notification list. I'm guessing this is why it's being sold as salvage and was not repaired.
Would appreciate knowing the exact name of any body parts required.
Do you think I'll be able to find these or have to wait to find a smashed side or back XK?
Do all the years of X150s (coupes and convertibles) have the same nose?

You’ll need parts from a 2012-2015 for that. The 2007-2011 are different. (Headlight shape change)

You would be forced to use a Taiwanese clone front bumper to make any economic sense. I am not saying it is on the list of what they do produce, but most likely they do.

On CoPart in the whole country there are two 2012-15 X150s without front end damage. One OEM used on eBay for $800. Are XK and XKR bumper covers the same?

Check online OEM Jaguar parts by model and year. See if the part number is the same for the XK and XKR front bumper cover.

Thanks. The XK and XKR are the same part number. The XKR-S is different. Both are about $2000.

If the price goes above anything close to ten grand, you'd be better off passing. A decent paint job on the used replacement parts alone will be near $5k. Find matching color pieces, super-bonus.

I've bought a clean titile 2002 XJ8 and a salvage title 2001 XJR from CoPart. The XJ8 was $1400 with a perfect body, good interior, good engine and shot ZF5HP. That is my LS swap project. Sold $2700 of parts off that car on eBay. The XJR had a cruched hood and quarter panel. I bought it for its Asteroid wheels, perfect interior and larger brakes to go on my swap project. That car was $3900 and have sold $4800 of parts off it. It's title type isn't listed yet. Assume it will be a salvage title which really reduces value. From watching CoPart, I doubt would go over $4000 and that's about the max I'd pay.

Honestly, does not look too bad. Couple grand worth of parts are missing.
However, pictures do not tell the whole story. Was there an accident or was the entire front end stolen?
If there's underbody damage, things will get expensive, fast. For example, I do not see any coolant in the expansion tank.

You are buying what they call a pig-in-a-poke.
Be aware that the bid price is only part of the story. Be sure to research ALL of the associated fees.
Premium to Co-part, internet fee, gate fee, etc., etc.
You can't bid unless you are a dealer or use a proxy service (additional fee).
Then there is transportation. $$$
There are also stories of "lipstick-on-a-pig", where significant hidden damage is intentionally concealed, sometimes with the cooperation of the auction company.
So, inspect yourself, if you can.

Having said that, I purchased three 2010/11 XK convertibles, just before and early during covid.
Learned a lot, had fun and enough fasteners and parts to complete two XKs to better than average condition.
Note: fasteners can be an expensive/time consuming problem without a parts car. Also, retired, so time invested is "re-training".
I got my 2011 dream car (Indigo/caramel) with only 66K. Plus a bonus 2010 Vapour Grey/charcoal. Both now look/run/drive great.
Problem? Both have "re-built" titles. The resale value is one-half or less than fair market.
So, be careful, have fun, keep it forever. Or give it away.
