Control Arms

Hello all,
I'm in the process of refreshing all suspension consumables. I'm replacing the passengers side upper control arm (Drivers side is brand new, replaced right before I bought the car). It appears that I am going to have to remove the strut, correct? Will it have to come out completely, or can I rock it out of place? Could I just compress the spring to save time and not pull the unit?
I'm also replacing the rear lower control arms. My last daily driver was an XJS with rear inboards, so the thought of Jaguar rear ends drives fear into my heart. Anything I should know about that job that's out of the ordinary?

For the front, i did have to take out the strut. And I actually separated the hub from the tie rod ends also. So I had some more flexibility. Just make sure you have stands and a jack to support the hub. I think I removed the sway bar links also so I can move the bar up and down. Yes - pain in the ***.
For the rear, loosen the upper strut nuts - you don't have to take them out. This will give you some wiggle room when re-installing the new ones. There is also a bolt that may not come out. Post 25 in this thread will show you what i'm talking about:

Other than that, just follow the procedure and make you tighten all the bolts to spec while the suspension is under load - should be as close to ride height as possible. I didn't find it practical to tighten everything while the car was on the ground with the wheel on.
