On my ‘08 Portfolio Convertible the drivers side short side hard cover is not operating correctly. It seems as though there is a spring broken that maintains the positioning of this cover. see pics attached.
Has anyone had this issue and if you have what is the corrective action needed?
Did a shop fix it or dealer or yourself?
Parts ?
Thanks for your help in advance!
This side works correctly Won’t return and is loose
@wymjym had a cool solution that you should take a look at in the thread above.
I thank you for the tread on this issue. I would feel better removing the panel but I’m not sure I can manage this as I have no idea how they come off. I guess you’d have to remove the seat & back to get to any of the retaining items for the side panel.

I would say that it would depend on exactly where the underlying issue is located. I was able to repair mine by only (carefully) removing the sliding cover itself, by pressing in the tabs that ride in the channels that contain the cover.
If whatever's broken in your's is harder to reach, going through the rear interior panel removal process might be your only option.
Do you have a small camera that you could use to do some reconnaissance with? Or maybe a small mirror that you can get back into that area under the cover with?
