Convertible mechanical preventive maintenance
Greetings Et Al,
I am hyper vigilant about caring for all my mechanical items from computers to firearms and yes my automobiles.
So naturally I am curios about how to properly care for the mechanical components of the convertible top. So can the senior members please educate me on proper care for the moving parts and linkages of said convertible top.
Such as lubrication points.
Types of lubricants.
Cleaning of components and joints.
Anything else that comes to mind.
I have read the thread about "ragtop" so pass on the fabric talk.
Much thanks to all.

Jaguar does not specify regular maintenance on the top mechanics.
That being said, on the older XK8/R tops, a number of us use dry graphite aerosol spray that is marketed for lock lubrication on the pivot points. This type of dry lube prevents the open joints from collecting dirt as greasing them would.
