When operating the convertible roof, two small panels (one either side on the rear quarter) raise to cover the gap when the roof is fully open,
and when the roof is closed, these side panels lower to create a gap for the roof mechanism.
Appears they under spring tension with a cord that pulls them up and backwards (towards the rear of the vehicle) when the roof operates.
The question, one of the cords has snapped ( or at least the end that wraps around the roof mechanism has become un-crimped) - looks like the thin cord wraps around the mechanism and is crimped on itself.
Has any body replaced these ?
or know's of the part number to order ?
attached photos if not explained very well. RED arrow pointing to panel.
At the moment, have to lean over to the passenger side and press the panel down manually so it doesn't catch on the roof mechanism as it closes.
There is a thread here that discussed that panel, and a member here did fix it themself. The part number and cost was also mentioned there as well IIRC.
Try the forum search for this forum, its here somewhere (searching and posting links from my phone doesn't work that well).
I had that problem when I took delivery of my XKR. Jaguar replaced the panel as a warranty item. I tried to find the thread that kj07 referred to but was not successful. I probably did not use the correct nomenclature.
