I actually prefer the cosmetic changes on the newer XKR over the older XKR(mine).

Automotive styling in general constantly evolves, and that from just 6 years ago can't help but start to look a little dated compared to fresher iterations. LED lighting is in...separate fog lights aren't. In Jaguar's case they are reinventing what the modern Jaguar looks like, and much of what appealed to their previous customer base is rapidly disappearing. Those who have difficulty embracing change to the XK/XKR over the last decade or so are sure to be unhappy with the next model, while others surely just can't wait!

Strange that my '07 XKR doesn't have power folding mirrors when my '06 XJ8 did--and from what I can tell, they are the same design, with the same rattles and wind noise!

Taking that a step further, I invite you to peek at the XK8/XKR, the car that preceded this one...

My mirrors are powerfold.
Yes the bonnet louvres are very functional.
You should see the hot air pouring out when you stop at a light !

How are they functional? They are just holes in the hood with no connection to the induction system. The only function they can serve is to allow more air to circulate around the engine compartment. Then again the huge plastic cover over the top of the engine works against cooling the engine.

The louvres are located in a low pressure area of the hood where air is sucked out of the engine compartment aerodynamically as the car moves without the need for ducting or fans. The faster the car moves the greater the draw. Heat would also escape by convection when the car is not moving, as well as being forced out slightly by under-hood higher air pressure caused by the radiator fans. Heat is always the enemy you battle with high performance cars, and the more power you make the more it's an issue affecting a wide range of electronics and engine compartment parts.

I'd need to see it in the flesh.
At the risk of having my JF membership abruptly terminated

I think there's no comparison between the XK and the other thing behind it.
