2010 xk
I知 considering purchasing a 2010 xk.
The price has been reduced due to the dash leather separation and the sagging headliner.
I知 not certain what those two items would cost to have done. Not at a jaguar dealer but done professionally. Also I noticed several other items that need addressed, so my broad question is what is a reasonable reduction of retail value when taking the following items into account?
The dash leather reattached
The headliner replaced
The two rear speaker covers replaced
The engine cover replaced
The seat control knobs replaced
Thanks for any guesses

Dash a couple thousand and headliner, if done correctly and well, another grand. Another...... grand??? for the rest of it.
Therefore, the cost should be at least $4,000 less than 'market', but you SHOULD have the work completed before purchase. If not, pass on that car. There could be more.
A good 2010 XK should be in the neighborhood of $13,000, so nothing over $10k should even be considered. Course this is dependent upon the market where you are. Texas cars tend to be lower prices, so maybe even $9k for that one.
I'm pretty sure you could find a different vehicle with fewer problems for a more reasonable cost. No need to buy a fixer-upper.

If you can steer me towards the lower pricing options I would appreciate it.

I simply have not seen any 2010 xks that are priced @ 13~15 in good shape.
Assuming 2010 xk would mimic earlier xkr in most performance areas, other than roll on.

Holy ****! Maybe I can sell my /R now for almost what I paid eight years ago!
I wouldn't though, of course.

Yeah the prices on these cars has really surged lately. It will float back down, but for now it's a seller's market unlike I've ever seen for the XK/XKR
.
Don't know about the headliner, but the leather separating is one of those things that happens to every one of these cars. Honestly, I'd ask: how bad is it?

I had the headlining in my '10 XKR replaced recently for the equivalent of around $550 USD. The trimmer found a pretty good colour match so it is hard to spot the difference.
The leather on the dash was re-glued for a similar price a couple of years ago (the dash was removed first).

Yeah even the base cars are selling in the 30-35 range with low miles. That's nation wide. I think it has partially to do with people discovering the older f-types rust up underneath but our cars don't. That and getting 5-10 years old low mileage examples are hard to find.

Yeah it's crazy and fun to watch, $13k for a good 2010 though would have been an insane, desperate deal when I bought mine right at the start of pandemic.

I was recently looking at a nice R coupe and aside from the high price, it needed about $5K in repairs (not counting the dash). The used car market right now is just stupid, for everything. Not just XK.
Heck, earlier this year I sold my Mustang GT to Carvana for more than I paid for it new, including taxes, tags, fees, etc. I drove it for a year for free. Can't beat that with a stick.
And yes, I passed on the R. But looking for an alternative, low mileage car anywhere, they are all ridiculously priced. So the OP may not be off the mark, if he's had the car inspected and there are no other issues.

I'm seeing some familiar (X100) faces in here. CA is always more expensive. I'm looking at an private sale 08 XK that looks, drives and sounds great. 60k miles, 15.7 verbal has been accepted. Too much?
I'm going back for a 2nd look and will check dash and upholstery carefully. Dealer prices are just ridiculous. Same year, same mileage price is 24k. Not a typo. A nice 2004 (still like the looks) w/ low miles (24)
price is 23k. A private 06 (44) asking is 20k. Do people actually buy cars for these prices?
