Default Covid XKR supply

After cancelling a purchase of an XKR yesterday, I was curious how many XKRs we're usually on the market before the Covid shutdown. There just isn't much to choose from right now and I'm wondering if there will be significantly more after Covid? I'm looking for black xkr 50k miles, or less. How long did it take for you to find your favorite Jag, or did you just stumble on one. I'm being patient, but I've been saving and looking for a long time. I'm nervous now as the unscrupulous dealer almost stuck me with a car with bubbling dash. All the pics were just enough off angle to omit showing the damage. I'm feeling thankful that I dodged a bullet. I don't want a Mercedes, or a Porsche. The XKR is my personal fave. Not a fan of the F-type. Thanks

Even before the Pandemic, the 5.0L XKR models weren't plentiful, and if you were looking for a color other than black, gray, or silver you had to be patient and search nation-wide. And if you wanted Adaptive Cruise Control, forget it except for the 2010 when it was standard equipment.

I know it's not what you're looking for, but here's a rare 2009 XKR Portfolio coupe that appears to be well-maintained and needs nothing but a new owner. It's worth a look, listed by a Forum member on the Marketplace:

These cars with low mileage in good condition are getting rare.

I searched for 6 months before I found my 2012 convert. That was in 2014 and the car I bought had 6666 miles on it and was in as new condition. I sold it in December last year with 26000 miles on it and it was still near perfect. It took so long to find as I wanted either a red , green or blue car. All that were available were one of the blacks or silver . Got a red one.

Looked for a year for a Seafoam Green XKR, ended up with Winter Gold.

I bought my '11 XKR convertible pretty much right before the Covid-19 pandemic. It took me about 2 months of searching and contacting dealerships before I found one in good condition with under 40k miles. There were only a handful of convertible XKRs available nationwide when I was looking. I do remember there being slightly more coupes up for sale than convertibles, but there still weren't very many. It's a relatively uncommon car.

That car has been looking for a new owner since last September because the price is way out of line.

I searched the whole country for the XKR convertible I bought two weeks ago so I'm pretty familiar with what these are asking. Price isn't even close to market.

Those are the two best colors ever offered on the XK (not counting French Blue on the XKR-S). Winter Gold is a winner on any Jaguar. Seafrost Green only works on certain models and trims.

All cars are dropping in price and still not moving. Great time too be a buyer but prices are still heading south.

Agree that low mile, quality cars are becoming harder to find. Jaguar has always been a low supply/low demand kind of car, so how long to find a car has always been a crap shoot.

Best!

I'll believe prices on these Jaguars are dropping when I see it. Yes a new optioned out Nissan or low-end Mercedes or a new Jaguar will probably drop like a rock over the next year, like they always do anyway.

I got a good deal on mine but also had to fly and drive back 10 hours.

Before my XKR I was watching and negotiating on a number of enthusiast cars (mostly American muscle) and no one was letting their cars go for any kind of decent deal at all. I even had not one but two bail on me after a sale was scheduled. An XKR 4.2 convertible in not-black from a private sale, very difficult.

I think luck has a lot to do with it. My wife's 2010 XKR coupe got totaled by a distracted driver in late February. I started looking casually for another one a couple of weeks later. Found one in a couple of hours, 150 miles away--a 2014, same color, with low miles and a good price. Called the dealership up, put down a $1000 deposit to take it off the market, and closed the deal shortly thereafter, in late March. That was all about timing, really, nothing I did....
