Here's the link to my local Jag specialist for covering your existing 5.0 cover in real carbon fibre
https://swallows-jag.co.uk/product/s...-cover-5-0-v8/
So about $1230 USD and I'm sure they can do the 4.2 as well, it's on an exchange basis I believe?
I've had a quote to hydrodip it and that runs at £320, there seems to be more prep on the hydrodip process but I could be wrong.
It is totally subjective, akin to a man wearing silk boxers, you know it's there but very few peeps outside of car clubs and concours events will ever see it!
NOT that they'd be seeing your silk boxers of course....eeek!!

LOL, this has turned into the hypocrisy thread! First George with dumping on the fake CF cover, then Marky and Stuart dumping on those that would buy the real CF cover.
It just goes to show that everyone can justify their level of spending but when someone else exceeds their expectation they are "fools" who are "easily parted from their money" or "not providing for the distressed".
That cover looks great by the way!

As I said earlier, "My money, my car, my choice." I don't begrudge anyone who buys the real CF parts, or anything else. I just don't see the value in those circumstances. To me, value is the excess of benefits over costs.
Consider the value of a diamond ring. It's a useless trinket that men have been brainwashed by DeBeers to buy because "Diamonds Are Forever". I bought one over 50 years ago and it still adorns the finger of the woman for whom I bought it. It was an extravagance, as I couldn't afford it when I bought it - but passion overruled reason. Did the value exceed the cost on the day I bought it? No, because it was a gamble; the price of a ticket for the Marriage Lottery. I got lucky and It turned out to be the best thing I ever bought.
Every X150 owner made that value judgment and decided that the benefits of ownership exceeded the cost. But we are all guilty of being "fools who are easily parted from their money" in the eyes of Prius owners and others who "don't get it".
The road of life is short, so enjoy the ride!

Agreed, ride and enjoy.
Whoever started that tradition way back when should be shot!

I just called them to ask and got their voicemail. You should call them and leave a message to call you back. The CV Pandemic probably has affected their operations.
P.S. It looks like they still do hydrographics. Here's their guy, from their website.

If you got the extra money for a real cf engine cover , buy it and save .5lb of weight IMO: complete waste of money, but to each their own. I personally run with the cover off on my car since I got it, helps with cooling...

You can do a lot more: Bosch 010 pump, lower temp thermostat 180 , ECU programming for lower start ,duration and speed of the main fan. With this combination mine stays around 190- 195

Scratching my head 🤔 sure costs nothing but it don't serve a purpose other than to cool down a car in your garage 😉😁
Taking the cover off is also free but could actually help during driving 😉
