Need to look into plan B. I had misunderstood my dealer. They would PAY $1800 towards the repair. My portion was over $4k.
Not gonna happen! I’ll talk to custom upholstery shop on Monday.
Thanks!
Joe
How much is the new dash w/o installation?
Will the dealer put their $1800 to the cost of the new dash w/o installation?
If you can get the dash for next to nothing, after the dealer pays $1800 into it, you can have someone else swap them, or DIY (as others have done it themselves).

How much can you buy the dash from one of the discount Jaguar parts vendors on this forum or else where?
I have removed the entire dash its not hard honestly. A little time consuming, but not hard... There are threads that have documented the process fairly well... If I remember it took me a little more than an hour to remove mine and I was being extremely cautious... So whether you get a new dash from dealer or have upholstery shop reupholster existing dash. You will save yourself $$$ by doing it yourself and you don't have to worry about did they forgot a bolt or forgot to plug something in, ect. Like others have already said be extremely careful with the defrost vents, I was so careful with them and still cracked one.
If you can get them to give you $1800 off the price of a new dash and do the labor yourself, it might still be a good deal. Looks like the prices for new dashes range from under $3K to over $3K and many dealers will offer 10-20% discounts.
I have the clear anti-uv coating on the inside of my '07's windshield. Not sure if it is the 3M product, but cost installed was about $120. Had the coating for about four years now with no issues.
I also use a marine anit-UV spray designed for marine leather. Both seem to "work", but I also live in OR, and park the car in a garage.

How does that film stand up with inspection stickers?
There is at least one Forum member who has this product installed, and he says he LOVES it. He has it on the windshield also, if I recall correctly.
That's me.
In the end, I opted not to have it on the windshield. I'm thinking about going back. FYI, the number of the film is the percentage of light that is let in, or something, so the higher the number the less the tint, which always feels backwards to me.
Their "90" product is essentially clear, and it what people put on the windshield.
I have 60 on the sides, and 50 on the rear window (convertible). It's the perfect look for a black car. It's not rapper-dark, at all, but makes it a little more Bond-esque.
And it 100 PERCENT works as advertised. It's not that you will climb into a cool black car after being parked in the California sun - you won't - it's that you get NO scorching feeling on your face/arms when the sun angles in. And the car seems to cool quicker. and I'm feelin' good about the leather on the doors and seats, at least.
When (if?) I replace the XKR, that will be the first thing on the new car.
I paid about $350, I think.
NOTE: none of these products offers a perfect neutral gray. 3M is a very slightly greenish gray which I love. The cheap stuff is that purplish gray, and theres another product which is brownish gray. Go with the 3M.
