this is what you want today and also dealing with such company like AML is a pleasure, you talk direct to them.
Except the light ralenti problem who triggered me well cause i was novice to AML, and the warranty doing an excelent job to help prevent etc..i did not even purchased a warranty and i am at 0 euros spent on repair after 6 months of ownership. the gas comsumation is really low even how i accelerate with the car I am really surprised, i thought it will kill me on the ling run but not at all, I do not even think of it at all. the rear tire i think are to be changed what ever after 10-12k km. yes i will spend 4k euros in maintenance service tires etc...each year.
I think i can drive 700 km with a full tank on highway.
I got it cquartz next monday, i had 2 wheels repaired lately and it has never been so good. I drove 9000 km in 6 months.

One thing that worries me on the Aston is getting it serviced. The local dealer (only two of which in all New England) charges $150 ($130 for other marques) an hour and hasn't been so good at fixing my Lotus. The are either incompetent or taking me for a ride.
On top of that, they don't offer a loaner car and who knows when you bring the car to them when it'll be fixed.
I need to find a local mechanic for any car I plan to buy next. I moved away from my Jaguar garage that was walking distance from my house.

i may ask if i can bring my oil in like some do in UK, some aml shop tolerate it, but its good to have the stamp so aml is a good place i will say, they depend of the diagnostic tool and its rare when cars act like mine and again it was no big deal and they went through so many things that now i feel its strong for years.
i will look any AM with an history but tolerate only one time 16 months service appart. It is what I did, or what i found, the best in france had 2 services 16 months appart instead of one year then i did the third service at 10 months. AML warranty did'nt say anything about it.
mine had 31000km and it wasnt the lowest mileage one but the most recent one 2013, and despite good mileage the car did'nt run much the year prior my purchase.
It was owned by Aston Martin themselves until 2014, and use on the Nurburgring circuit and serviced there at the test facility AML. it has a real badass history and indeed is in excelent condition despite this.
in 6 months i will have been at jaguar 3 times to repair and adjust something I am sure, the car is so strongly built you feel you own a piece of art too.
I cant wait to drive it on long distances.
on 700 km i use 20 euros more gas with the rapide than a gla mercedes 1.6 liter coming back from france.
i wont be surprised if in the us you can find a 2010 rapide at 70k with front leds (when its 2013 for a db9) its modern like a 2013 db9 outside and indeed i wander if it is not the best aston for the price now with all the options.

Hi
quick review. I have a 2013 XKR (upgraded the upper pulley and re-mapped to just under 600 bhp) and recently bought a 2009 DB9 (facelift model with sport pack) with no upgrades. I am a Jag fan and love them, so please note that quick comment is coming from a Jaguar fan. The DB9 (facelift 2009) is like night and day to my XKR 2013. I cannot explain the feeling I get from the DB9 to drive it is the best thing this side of adult fun. The DB9 is a bit slower but it is complete driver's car the experience is fantastic. Long story short the DB9 is light years away from the XKR.

I test drove a new Db9 right out of the showroom with 10 miles on it. My experience was quite different than yours. The traction control is not as good as the XKR. The DB9 loses traction easily and apply to much throttle and it will start going sideways on you. My 2014 XKR I can floor it without any wheel spin and I have the pulley and tune which gives it 620 HP. The suspension on the DB9 is static. You can select the mode but it does not dynamically adjust itself to the road surface like the active suspension in the XKR. So the DB9 stutters over bumps and is harsh over rough roads. Going back to my XKR afterwards I felt like was driving on pillows in comparison. Also the chassis of the XKR is much stiffer so it handles better than the DB9 too. So yes the DB9 is light years away from the XKR but behind it. Worse handling, harder ride, poorer traction control does not make a better drivers car.

from my perspective,I think the XKR looks better than a db9 or dbs.Idk if it comes from owning an XKR too long or what.I do say the DB11 looks better than the XK though cause it got it in looks from every angle. But I wish the last generation XKR had rear tail lights like an F-type cause it sort of looks Mitsubishi eclipe in the back and i think that's the only flaw in looks the XK have

I love my 07 XKR and have eyeballed DB9s a long time. I ended up buying a Maserati GranTurismo this year to replace my X100. I still want a DB9, but will not replace my X150 to do so. I think the early X150 XKR may be one of the most reliable cars Jaguar made in the modern era. It’s been great the 3 years and 24k I’ve put on it.
I personally think the DB9 brings a lot to the table but the XKR does a lot and does it cheap. I think it may be a case of adding a DB9 versus replacing the XKR. They’re similar but different enough to exist in the same space.
I like the Testarossa and it is a bucket list car for me despite knowing how difficult they are to work on, cost of bits, the fragility of certain drive train boots and that people think they’rea sports car and they’re a GT through and through. I think the first time a lot of people drive them, they’re disappointed since it’s not what they expect. Also if I’m buying it’s having pop up headlights and louvered taillights, the final iteration looks hideous to me with the forced lights and the round tails.

From my 2011 thread: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...xkr-db9-60537/
I'm not a fan of he DB9's aftermarket front bumper by Mansory or the black rims. I also prefer the shape of the XKR's rear side window/soft top to the DB9's, but that's a very subtle difference. Their bodies are very similar; note how the rear fender line starts at the rear edge of the door on both cars.

I do not want to hijack this thread, but I always liked the dashboard of the XK8 ( X100 ) over the XK´s ( X150 ) one. ONLY the dashboard!
I would never buy a XK8 Convertible because I like the metal cover on the X150. And the XK8 has a simple all steel body. It would be a backstep to my ´07 XK.
So I thought about buying an AM DB 7Coupe, to accompany my XK Convertible ...
Is it as close to the XK8, as the DB 9 is to the XK?
Is the body made from Aluminium?
It is available in V 12, too, IIRC.
What do you think? Any things to consider?
Thanks in advance, Hermann

The DB7 is not for me, as it looks too much like the X100 (XK8) and, IMHO, is a big step backwards from my X150. But it's your money and your decision.
Ian Callum designed the DB7 and X150.

The DB7 is a neat car. I personally feel the interior in it, stylistically, feels like a much older car than the XK8. For many reasons it has the party trick of a manual transmission option where the Jaguar does not. I know the X100 and DB7 are related platforms but far from it being just an Aston badge slapped on a Jag. They did a lot at Aston to it.
Personally though if it was an auto equipped DB7, whether six or twelve, I’d rather have the X100 in either 8 or R trim. The manual transmission though, give me that!
i think the DB9 was a hell of a leap from the DB7, and my sentiments towards that are more positive. I still think the X150 though was a nice leap for Jaguar too and I think it may be one of the best cars they’ve ever made. Any of the four platforms I’ve mentioned though are great cars and not a sows ear; so to own any is a privilege.
