DB9 vs XKR
#81
"The db9 performance exceeded the xkr significancy" I cant see this even remotely possible when the fastest times I could find listed for the DB9 were
DB9 - 12.9 @112mph & 13.2 @110.25mph
Whilst the 5.0 xkr
XKR- 12.6 @115mph
It might feel faster but the numbers dont lie... it just might be the particular way the V12 delivers its power that makes it feel quicker

Secondly, I had a true stick, which was almost 350 lbs lighter than a DBS with an automatic. My DBS weighed ~3300lbs. An XKR weighs around 3800 lbs.
I remember the test drive of the DBS. I went down an on-ramp onto Interstate 400 North. I started at 0 at the top, and was at almost 100MPH buy the bottom. My XKR, full bore on the same ramp hit about 80MPH by the bottom.
It was SIGNIFICANTLY faster, and pulled MUCH harder. I drove the car for 18 months. I had driven 3 XKR's before the DBS, the last one being my 2010 XKR.
Don't really care what numbers are posted on the 'net.

From what I've read the DBS and the XKR are both at 510 HP and a close torque rating. 6.0L V12 vs 5.0L V8. It most likely would be a close race and would depend on the driver skill. I'd like to see the head to head.

You might until you see the normal maintenance schedule and costs. The difference in parts costs is fairly significant compared to Jag. The styling is OK in my eyes but not enough for me to buy one. But once again it's a matter of personal opinion. Go for what you like.

Well, I am already about 4K in maintenance on the Lotus this season and been averaging around 2K previous seasons...
My thoughts are that there are only 2 Lotus dealers in New England, yet there are 4 Maserati dealers in MA alone. There are more indy shops that can work on a Maserati than Lotus. With the Aston, I would have to buy an older model year car for my price point and I question which of the two (Aston or Maserati) would be less expensive to own.
One thing after seeing and driving the car yesterday was the black chrome option. The door window trim and exhaust tips are black chrome. Everything else is bright. I thought it was an odd contrast and looks like an afterthought. I would want to revert it, but don't know if that is an option or advisable.
I did not give the car a fair shake on the test drive. It was simply driving a mile down the HWY and turning around back to the dealership. No twisties or anything. Felt bigger and heavier than the XK and was like a Caddy compared to the Lotus. Chassis was like a Caddy compared to Rapide or Lotus when comes to flex and precision feel. Engine had some grunt, seats were comfy and looks fun to wash & detail.
Not sure how I feel on this car. I am torn.

The Maserati just did not have the level quality materials as the Aston, or maybe even the Jaguar inside. I should revisit what I can get for my money on an XKR...

Jaguar did the NAV screen spot on in my opinion, it has just what it needs and none of the nonsense that others include. Keep is simple is my motto.
