Default Debadged My XK

Well I have been out of work for a while and became bored so I decided to debadge my XK... it cost me about 40 bucks and it's totally reversible. I covered the front grill badge with fake carbon fiber vinyl along with the center caps. Next stop went to O'Reilly's picked up some half inch chrome stripping and 3/4 inch....

the 1/2 inch width for the side coves and the rear 3/4 for the Jaguar logo across the back over the license plate... all you need is a hair dryer to do it to get the vinyl to work around the dome-shaped front badge and center caps. To bring it back to normal heat it up peel them off some rubbing alcohol and back to normal. In my area there are very few of XKs around people have no clue what kind of car it is other than the emblems so I thought it'd be kind of fun to see what people think this the car is... I've only seen about 3 in the past year including mine in my area in Connecticut.

That's one hardcore de badge mine stopped at the rear end and went no further .

With your front grille if your not too fond of the jaguar symbol why don't you get a mina galleries front grille as it'll look professionally done and not like someone swipped it .

With mine I put the updated jaguar symbol and it looks the part. Just a few suggestions

The reason I am doing it is I want the car in stealth mode it's just funny how people in my area have no clue what kind of car it is other than the badging. They are very rare in my area so people just don't seem to know what it is now they really won't.... I just think it's fun. People will guess who knows what...already mistaken for a Maserati and a Aston Martin and of course it's reversible I could have this back to normal in about 30 minutes max with a hair dryer... and I have plans for the front badge it's not done yet🙂

It used to be be that after stop light one went green, and stop light 2 went red, I could see the people in the car behind me reading the badges on the back of my car to the rest of the occupants in the car.

Now that it doesn't have badges, there isn't that consistant response where I can lip read "Jaaaguuuraw".

Also fun to sit near it in outdoor seating, and listen to people try ot figure out what it is.

There are two XKs in my area, one is a guy I know with a red XKR and the other is a pampered wife in a light blue 2014 XK I talked to for a few seconds at a grocer parking lot.

For years, I've always liked the script "Jaguar" logo found on the old Mark IXs' - very classic and old-school. I'd put it on the rear deck lid, much like Maserati does, but feel like it'd be too redundant, considering "Jaguar" is stamped across the chrome trim piece on the trunk. Guess you'd call this a "badging" dilemna...

Tracee, they make the rear chrome strip without the JAGUAR.

You could buy the trim without it, replace your existing, then add the classic logo you want.

It's quite funny but even here in dear old blighty people are confused as to the marque of my car even fully badged, I don't think I've ever seen another X150 within a 15 mile radius of me, so I've had:

Maserati
Aston
Tesla (??)*

* From 2 x neighbours that have seen me plugging my CTEK in via extension lead

But debadging (or indeed rebadging) over here is for peeps that aren't content with what they have Although I do appreciate the American/Japanese 'rice' culture.

Most common is owners of 1.8/2.0 3/5 Series repmobiles debadging theirs so they can give their impression that it's is a more powerful model...it backfires (on me at least) as I always assume it's the most base model, but guess it will impress 'dem gyal dem' without vehicular experience. Worst still is those that debadge and put an 'M' sticker on the back, usually not straight, I literally have a SMSL moment when I see one of those accompanied by a single zaust

So to me anyone debadging an XK is like fitting bonnet vents at a later date to make it look like something it isn't.

PS: My 3.0 Audi A6 quattro was supplied without a badge from the factory, running @ 230bhp/332nm, so no slouch, after a remap and a custom exhaust it was dyno'd at 295/400

But ultimately it's down to drivers choice
