Decided to go with 2nd Dream Car
After much, much thought and prayers, I decided to go a different route than Jaguar and went with my very close second dream car. 3 years of dreaming about the 1996-2006 XK and then 3 years of the 2007 -2015 XKR and I decide to go with my second choice. God makes choices for us many times and I felt a wave of relief wash over me after I made this decision.
Thak you very much for all your help. You were very informative and helpful.
What made me very uneasy was JLR's business decision to reduce dealerships and for many dealers to state they will not work on older Jaguars, will refer owners to independent repair shops, etc. I can do a lot of mechanical work but I cannot repair electronics.
Any - my second dream car....a 1962 - 63 Chevrolet Impala. My 1st choice is the convertible 409 dual quad 4 -speed in 1962 and the 2nd choice is the same but a 1963. However, that is not meant to be and even the non-409 cars are out of my price range. I should never have sold my 62 Convertible for $1,800 and my 63 SS hardtop for $500 in 1986. But, after 3 weeks of searching I finally found a car. It is a 1962 Bel Air at a very decent price and is just about half the cost of the 2010-2012 Jaguar XKRs I have considered. My wife & I fly out this Saturday morning to drive the Bel Air home across three states as it is a daily driver. It is not a convertible but those are truly out of my price range. I also know this year Chevy like the back of my hand and I can do everything it might need myself. It needs an interior, paint, a windshield, and a trunk pan replacement but that appears to be it so far. I know of many people who have looked at the ad, asked questions of the seller, and commented that it is nicely done. My in-person inspection will confirm everything I believe it to be. I also bought an abandoned, rust bucket 1967 Chevelle hardtop this week to learn how to remove a body from a frame. It is a candidate for a full body replacement if the frame is any good.
Anyway thank you all for your help & support during my Jaguar journey.

A hard choice for you but the logical one.

Add to that worsening parts availability. JLR are blaming all shortages on the pandemic but the truth appears to be they are actively reducing inventory on current and previous models as they "re-imagine" towards all electric vehicles.
A hard choice for you but the logical one.

They do not seem to care enough about their reputation. It seems to me they will disappear rather sooner than later.
??? Luxury cars ONLY, without economies of scale, being dependent on suppliers whose business will in turn depend on other customers… and competition from the likes of Bentley, Maybach, Rolls Royce, both backed by German mass manufacturers (Volkswagen, Mercedes Benz, BMW)… I do not have enough phantasy to see them flourish in this environment. ???
